I just got approved for the Amex Plat Personal card and its on the way. This being my first Amex since I am only 18. So now I want to get either the business card or another personal to "seperate" my expenses. Now that I have a platinum account can I automatically be approved for either another personal platinum card or business platinum?
If yes can someone tell me how to go about this as I have yet to call amex with these questions. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Why does an 18yr old need a $450 annual fee charge card? Do you travel a lot? Why do you want a second $450 a year Business Charge card? What are you possibly gaining by duplicating benifits? What business do you even own, if the answer is none, don't waste $450 on a business charge card.

I do travel two weeks out of the month. And I do own several large internet companies so I do a lot of traveling domestic and intl. And I want to (as mentioned) seperate personal and business expenses.

You can get a business card, but it will require a new hard pull and application. I wouldn't duplicate benefits that way, just get a business green, and pool your MR that way. Or better yet, use an SPG for your business spend.

Can I get a personal green?

Yup you sure can. That won't cost you a pull at all. Just call AMEX CS and say you want to downgrade to green. They will prorate your annual fee as a refund. Then you could apply for the business plat to make sure you retain your benefits.

A better question is why would you do that? Is you business SoleP so you just want separate accounts for your spending? If so, still get a business green, just use your SSN as the EIN.
If you have a scenario where paying for a green and Plat person makes sense, I'd sure like to hear about it out of curiosity.

Ummm, wow, that is one of the most judgmental responses I've seen in a long time. To the OPs credit he or she answered most of your questions in a later post and appartenly travels two weeks a month, both domestic and international. Exactly how often do you travel and how many businesses do you own?
Perhaps in the future you might consider not making snap judgments of anonymous people you've never met based solely on items like age (or anything else for that matter)

Wow, tense much?
Geeze, the question was relevant. There may have been better cards for his actual needs. Notice as soon as he stated ow he really did have a need for this particular card, I instantly tried to answer his questions to the best of my abilities.
I think my last question about why one would want two persoal amex charge cards with overlapping benefits is relevant too, maybe he has a reason for that too, I don't know but I'm sure if he has a reason and will fill us in.
I wasn't the one asking the questions so I don't need to provide any info I don't feel like revealing. How about you chill out now man.

No tension neccessary guys, I appreciate everyones responses. The reason for having the two cards as mentioned is to seperate both biz and pleasure expenses since I am in the internet business and travel frequently the platinum will suit me well for all pleasure expenses/upgrades etc. The green will be good for business related expenses such as e-transactions, and other biz related things. FYI I was able to get approved on the amex website for a personal green card along with my (in transit) platinum card. Thanks to everyone for their input!

Since you already have a Plat Charge card, it makes no sense paying for the Business Green.
You should have applied for Platinum Business Credit Card

No annual fees and you also earn membership rewards points.

hs1's idea is a good one. Since you already have a card that has MR, many Amex CCs, like BLue and that Biz Plat credit card, will earm MR now.
The only downside to that is AMEX is likely to give you a higher limit and and the flexibility to charge large items by calling in prior to approval with a Charge Card rather than a Credit Card.
So if you need a higher spending limit/flexibility and are always going to pay in full, it may make sense to pay $50 for a green business card. Don't pay the extra $45 to enable MR since your plat already has it.

Didnt AMEX just introduce that website upgrade where you can flag expenses as business or personal or whatever you want? That way you could just get the BUS PLAT and still have the ability to separate expenses?

If he gets the Business Plat, and then mixes Personal/Business expenses on it, or vice versa, there are serious consequences if he is incorporated. Unless he is a SoleP, I would NEVER attempt that. And even then, it's just way easier to have two separate cards, than to wade though potentially hundreds of charges monthly, and attempting to remember what each charge was to flag them.

Good point on the Incorporation, also valid point on the wadeing, my BUS charges tend to be few, but large transactions.

What type of "consequences" are you referring to? I've been wondering about this for a long time? I have an AMEX Plum small business card and use it for both personal and business. If I am able to separate the expenses and organize everything properly, is there anything forbidding this?

It can cause you problems later on if for some reason, someone tries to pierce your corporate veil. Some say that if you have a personal card that you use solely for business expenses, or vice versa, that the veil is still safe. Even that is up for debate however.
But if you mix the loans under one account in this way, be sure the veil can be pierced on your corporation. Why incorporate if you so readily give up your liability protection? The entire purpose if incorporating is to have your company be a separate legal entity. You may as well just remain a SoleP in that case and save on operating costs.
Additionally, if the loan account wasn't PGed, it sure is after you mix in your personal expenses.

Wow, tense much?
No tension whatsoever, and I assure you I'm quite "chilled." Merely making an observation regarding the tone of the questioning, not the validity therein. If you disagree, fair enough. There are numerous stylistic differences on FT.
Geeze, the question was relevant. There may have been better cards for his actual needs. Notice as soon as he stated ow he really did have a need for this particular card, I instantly tried to answer his questions to the best of my abilities.
Indeed you did begin providing more helpful answers as the thread evolved, I agree with you. However, I guess I'd make the case that you could have immediately jumped to the more helpful dialogue you provided without requiring the OP to "prove" the merit of his or her question to you first. Would you honestly have stated the questions you asked, with the same tone (i.e. "Why does an 18yr old need a $450 annual fee charge card?") if the OP hadn't revealed their age?
Reread the tone of your post and put yourself in the shoes of a fairly new FT member. Yes, this OP appears to be a good sport and handled it well enough, but nonetheless, I suspect that other new users might not appreciate it, I certainly wouldn't. But if that's your style and that's the way you want to greet new FT members, fair enough, to each his own.
How about you chill out now man.
Fair enough and I'll ask the same as you. The fact that someone disagrees with you on FT does not in and of itself mean they are a worked up emotional basket case. I assure you I'm not, but rather simply disagree with your questioning style.
