I am looking for a website that could match the price of Orbitz and Cheaptickets in British pounds for a reservation at Park Plaza Belfast. Although, Orbitz and CT are offering lower room rates for US$68 than PPB for GBP55 (US$81), BRG could not be applied because of these two currencies being used. I submitted the claim but was denied for the variation of currencies. I even called Park Plaza and tried to reserved a room with rates in US$ but they won't do it. I did not tell them of the lower rate I found though.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Don't forget the £55 includes sales tax (VAT) whereas the $68 on Orbitz does not.

I saw the PP elsewhere for 47euro 2/3-2/5

But its at BFS and that means having to take the bus each time you want to head into the city or are in the city and for whatever reason need your room

the only 2 US chains are The Hilton cat4 = 30k per night or the Raddison SAS, you cn try and see if you can trade someone some pts or miles you have to cover the # of nghts you need via Coupon Connection

I might have the Hilton beat price wise but need to figure out my cost net net, if it works I will PM you the info but it will be alot more then the PP but a 5 min walk to the DT area

Good point. I have not considered that since most hotel rates are quoted excluding tax. In fact, Orbitz rate will be higher when VAT is applied.

A reliable cheap bus service to the city is 24hours available as posted in the other thread. I would rather stay in the airport to be early at the gate without to worry for traveling delays from the city. Besides, I will be there for two days.

If you don't want a city centre hotel, just off the main road from BFS to Belfast there's the Hilton Templepatrick, which has a free airport shuttle service (10 minutes).

From the hotel, you can hop on the same bus that does the airport-city centre route at the bus stop in Templepatrick, about 500 metres from the hotel. There are other multi stopper regular bus routes too.

ireland.hotels.com

has the PP as 58 euro per night or 47 euro per night if at least 2 nights, when I will be in BFS that includes the tax. Dont remember if its a non-refundable or not

www.parkplaza.com its 55 GBP for 1 night and 49.50 GBP for 'AAA' or 'Senior' says need ID but itts worth a shot, and its refundable till 2 pm day of. Only problem is where the GBP will be day of and if you have aCap1 CC that wont hit you for the 3% Forex fee

couldnt beat the Hilton, could be Ill use pts my 1st night at the Hil and pay 49.50 GBP @ the PP for my 2nd night

Last Fri I was able to book a non-refundable rate of 46.75 GBP per night. I decided to stay here for the night before I fly back as its a few mins walk to the Term building.

you can get this rate if its offered on the days you need ask for the Hot Deals Rate or go to www.parkplaza.com

The charge came thru today with a $63.59 on my card that puts the forex rate at 1.3648 its over 1.38 today. Orginally it was over $82 for the night full rack.

Keep in mind I used a Cap1 CC which doesnt charge the 3% Forex fee that most CCs do, so using a non-Cap1 will mean a higher US$ charge also the final charge will depend what the GBP-US$ is at. I thought 1.36 was low and thought if it went lower it wouldnt be by much when my stay came around next week, so I wanted to lock in the low GBP-US$ rate as well.

*** It seems this Hotel has raised its rates from 55GBP to 70GBP so the new non-refundable rate is 59.50GBP instead of 46.75GBP

I have a reservation at this hotel for 46.5GBP. I hope that the value of the US dollar against GBP will increase during my stay next month.:)

1- if you dont already have a res forget about it, I checked and saw they raised their rates to 100+ GBP for a room within the next month

2- theres absolutly Nothing to do here at the hotel or nearby. During non-rush hrs its appx 35 mins to the center of Belfast, an hr+ during rush hr. The bus is 7GBP 1 way or 10 GBP r/t within a month. NO CCs but you can buy it from the driver. Do NOT use your CC at the Tourist info booth in the arivals hall for the tkt, if you have a US CC you will be charged in US$ along with a 3.5% comminsion, no way will they charge a US CC in GBP! I cancelled mine and gave her GBP cash that I had on me.

3- the room is basic and clean arrived after doing a day tour of the Coast and Giant Causeway, save your $$ , unless you can find a public bus that will drop you at the Causeway. Every stop was basically a photo op only or to buy some food so the driver can get his for free. The Castles and Bushmills as I do (no Weds flight from BFS or Tues from EWR) they were heading to Dublin by train for the day, that might be a much better idea!

4- not much in BFS to keep occupied. I walk along Shakhill Rd (Protestant area) then Falls... Rd Catholic area. Dropped into a couple of watering holes but to early for any action or bands playing , so I headed back to The Hilton (in town) and hit the sack didnt sleep on the way over.

5- Im happy I didnt base myself here at the PP both nights, it was alot better being able to stroll in and out of the Hilton in town. I used HH pts, there are a couple of Holiday Inns pretty much city center too. Id say the best thing is 1st night in the city and the night before leaving at the PP if the rate is cheap

and questions feel free to PM me, only I have another CO Intl flight on Sun 2/8 and back 2/11 good thing not back to BFS.

Weather is hit and miss, on the bus yesterday morn into town it was a mix or rain & snow. Last night Cold but dry, today cool and dry, now 9pm its sleeting and cold. Last week was much nicer they said

Thanks for the heads up. I may have to cancel my 1st night stay and take the train to DUB for a night.
