Have just been to NCL to collect a prepaid 24-hour rental.

Hertz counter said they had no cars left, and that they'd arranged a car from Europcar from me. (I don't know what they meant by 'arranged' - I still had to go through all the paperwork with Europcar, get the hard-sell and pay for the rental myself. )

Anyway, Hertz said they had refunded my prepayment of £14.25, and then they'd find out how much my Europcar rental cost and refund me the difference. I completed the paperwork and went back to Hertz to tell them the bad news (£67.64, as it happens) which they promptly wrote on a scrap of paper....

So my questions:

- am I likely to get the £53.39 refunded to my card soon, and without a fight?

- can I get miles from Hertz? It should have been 1700 bmi miles. I don't even know where to credit the paltry Europcar miles

- is this how it usually works? Admittedly I'm only a #1Gold, but having to pay for the alternative rental myself and wait on a refund :td:

I don't have the answers for you, but that is a garbage way to treat a customer. :td: I rented from Hertz Russell Square tonight, and got the total hard sell on all the extras, and I'm 5* Gold.

Well, to my great surprise, the £53.39 credit has turned up, as promised.

And the Europcar miles somehow posted twice to my BA account :) Will still be putting in a claim for the original bmi miles as well.
