Choice Privileges - So is it Platinum or Diamond?

On 12/19 I received an eMail from Choice saying I made Diamond for 2009, even though their web page showed me short three nights. Now, when I access my account, it says I'm Platinum. :(
I realize it's may take them a while to catch up, but just curious if any others are in the same situation. Choice is not one to live up to their promisses, so I'm not going to bet the farm on them.

Do your records agree that you're short three nights? If not and you believe you've earned it I'd send them a nicely worded email and the records to back it up. It doesn't usually take Choice more than a few days to update points and AFAIK they update status immediately.
If you're not legitimately Diamond, they did still tell you that you'd achieved Diamond. I'd forward their email to their customer service and tell them their website still shows platinum, and ask them to update it. Worst case they will tell you they're sorry for the mistake. Maybe there's a shot that they will give you the Diamond.

I got the same email & deleted it. I wasn't even close to diamond & just snuck by for platinum this year. I figured they were just being nice since I was diamond last year. I just checked my status & it shows me as platinum this year. I am guessing the email was a mistake, but should've kept it to try to get Diamond status. I guess I don't care too much about my choice status. I probably won't even try to get Platinum in 2009.

I was short several days of making the higher level for this year. I called and asked why I had been told one thing in their e-mail but my account showed another. The customer service rep couldn't help but suggested I forward the e-mail I had received to choice_privileges@choicehotels.com. I did and was notified that I had been given the higher level but explaining the requirements for keeping it next year.
I'm Gold and had 24 stays in 2008...and stayed Gold. Decided it wasn't worth the cost for the extra night. The oddity is that the letter they sent me to tell me I was Gold again for 2009 was sent in mid-December; if they'd been on the ball they could have seen I had a few nights reserved right at the end of the year and at least waited to see if I'd stay the one more night, or have sent me an email to encourage the extra night in some way.

Ok, sent an eMail via their Contact Us page and quoted the eMail received 12/19 saying I had achieved Diamond status but web was saying Platinum. They up'd my status and replied saying I had to stay 40 nights this year to keep Diamond. Apparently no one told their computers that was needed. I was prepared to meet the requirement, but once I was told I already had, decided to complete Diamond for Hilton instead.
But everything is worked out now for me. So if you still have their eMail and they did not extend your status, send them a message and they should own up to the promise.
