Hertz - Anybody ever upsell a Free Day Cert?

I've got a few free day certs from the BAP program (that are good for the typical up to Premium car class car).

Thing is I really prefer convertibles, which are not a covered car type. :(

Has anyone ever been able to negotiate for a car type outside what the cert T&Cs covers?

Yes, sometimes they do it for free and sometimes they might ask for an additional (small) upsell difference. YMMV.

My experience with my local Hertz is no. They told me if I want a SUV, I have pay it from the ground up.

Have redeemed certs for convertibles in OGG several times gratis. Just had to ask to swap the CV or Camry for a Miata and voila.

i upgraded a FSC a week ago. He had a free two day rental A-F class. Hes a regular every week. He called a day before to check if i had a particular suv for him. I said no problem and it was ready for him when he came in.
