Las Vegas - Superbowl Sunday in Vegas

Due to a combination of some business and pleasure travel, I'll be in Vegas on Superbowl Sunday. Never been in Vegas during the Superbowl and I'm looking for places to watch the game...I see there is an ESPN Zone in NYNY, but I'm thinking there has to be a better place. I'm staying at the MGM Grand.
I have a group of 10, so I'd like to make reservations early.
Thanks!

I hate replying to my own message, but I did some googling. Turns out the NFL cracked down on Casino Superbowl "parties". So the only real option to hit the sportsbooks....I bet its going to be a zoo.
Anyone have any other insight...

All the casinos still throw parties but at the places I'm familiar with they tend to be invite-only. I did go to Bellagio's last year, though, and while it was a pretty nice party (good food/booze) there were lots of attendees and I can't imagine it'd be hard to find your way in by making friends or just piggybacking.

I have been going to Vegas for the "Game"...vegas can't use the words SuperBowl...for 5 years and counting now. Most of the parties are invite only. ESPN zone has usually been rented out by major sponsors (I think Miller has had it past few years), so that is also not available.
My buddy and I are not high-rollers, so we don't get the invites. We typically watch the game in a sports book. We have found that we have to get there VERY early to save decent seats. We then rotate staying in place so neither of us has to sit there for 10 hours or more.
We have also done Hooters, both off the strip and the new casino/hotel. Again, advice is to get there early. Only bad thing with this place (and assumingly similar types) is there is an hourly minimum of spending (I think it was $10 per person). This is great for the 3 or so hours of the game, but if you get there really early and have to go 5 or 6 hours....it will add up in a hurry.
The only one we haven't done is a strip club. They usually advertise specials, but have no idea how good the experience is.
With a group your size, I would say you are going to have some difficulty in a place like a book, which has somewhat limited seating anyway, but if you guys are high rollers, then anything can happen.
Good luck while you are out. BTW....I will be wearing a Chiefs jersey that day, so if you happen to see someone wearing that, ask for jimjamkc and see if I respond.

Somehow your nick brings back memories of the Fabulous Freebirds ;-)

D'oh totally missed that OP has a group of 10. That'll make it hard if not impossible to find a way or piggyback into a casino party. If I run into some MGM people, I'll ask around at what's going on at that property that's open to the public.

Well....a few of us are medium rollers. I'll give the concierge a call at my hotel and casino marketing..see what I can come up with.
The house of blues sounds interesting too. I'm sure there are other restaurants that have good TVs and seating...any suggestions? What about off strip hotels? Palms? Rio? Hard Rock?

I believe their is a thread somewhere in CommunityBuzz where folks are organizing a Super Bowl Do. My connection is too slow to search for it right now.

ESPN Zone is never available Super Bowl Sunday...I've heard plenty of the stories about it from all the bartenders there (and I'm sure I'll hear them talk about what they're expecting for it this year when I'm out there in a couple of weeks). The restaurant makes an absolute ton of money for renting that place out for the day.

I'm going to be in vegas too for the super bowl.
I'm still looking for something...not sure how early I would need to get to a sportsbook to grab a spot.

Real early. Find a host that works the Sports book and give him $20. You'll get a (small) table reserved.
I love pro football, but tend not to get too excited about the Super Bowl. One year I was with a group and we took over a couple of Blackjack tables. They had TVs set up in the pit area, so we could watch and play. The dealers were understanding of our slow play and table talk.

I know that the casinos were renting out conference rooms during the last boom for Fantasy Football drafts. While it might not be ideal, could you rent a conference room and load up with food and a HDTV projector? The OP has a party of 10 so the food bill is going to be large anyways. You could always make a run to a grocery store and sneek in the food if the casino won't cut you a deal. They could be too busy making money that day at restaurants and bars to care.
I will be in town the weekend before to take advantage of the wacky bets and odds. I'm hoping for another Titans-Rams Superbowl where the Titans had a great offense and should have never been +14 against "the greatest show on turf."

BTW...if you're interested...ESPN Zone will do admission for $55 tomorrow that will get you access to the upstairs bar and includes food, but no booze. First time in years that it's not sold out (and there are quite a few people there that are not happy about this...).
