Women Travelers - For knee high stockings that really stay up

If anyone needs a recommendation for knee-high stockings that stay up, I have found the following useful. Not long ago I had knee surgery and was reluctant to use pantyhose. I also wanted to wear stockings for a longish dress for a particular occasion--not trendy enough to go without hose altogether, I suppose--and I did not want to have to adjust the stockings or worry about them staying up. I tested department store knee highs and wasn't happy with the result.

So--@:-)

In the past I had bought another type of Jobst stocking, Jobst opaque doctor-prescribed compression stockings worn to help prevent blood clots while flying. So it occurred to me to check to see if Jobst might have something suitable in a sheer line. I knew that those stockings really stood up. I found that Jobst did, in another line that was nonprescription and of far less compression. There is still some compression, enough to hold the stockings up so that they still don't slip. Perfect solution, IMO. :)

If you have a dedicated pharmacy (i.e., freestanding, as opposed to one in a larger store), you might want to call to ask if they carry Jobst products. Or maybe you can locate a pharmacy through the Jobst website.

The product that worked so well for me was:
Jobst SupportWear (not to be confused with Jobst MedicalLegWear)
Ultrasheer
Therapeutic Support
Knee High

Select by shoe size, for these.

They come in various colors, including nude or beige, I think, have a sheer heel and reinforced toe. I thought they were easily adequately sheer, though possibly a high quality of department-store hose might be more sheer or silkier.

(As an aside, Jobst prescription-strength stockings, which are a different line, require calf and ankle measurement as well, also compression strength--and they are opaque--but that is FWIW and another topic. I am just trying to distinguish between the lines.)

My cost was $17 plus tax, FWIW. And those hose stay up for hours. I don't know how long they last, but I have worn them several times since, and no runs so far anyway.
