Midwest - STL - Which Metrolink station to park when flying out of ST Louis Lambert Airport?

A friend of mine is driving to Saint Louis to catch a flight out of STL. If he is to park his vehicle in one of the Metrolink Redline stations while he is away in order to save airport parking fee, which is the best station to do that? The primary concern is his vehicle’s safety.

I have parked in Fairview Heights station myself in the past and I felt safe about it. May be one of the stations closer to the airport is a better choice – like North Hanley or UNST South? Or may be the stations on the other end like Shiloh-Scott and Belleville? I know to stay away from any station between Washington Park and Forest Park.

He’ll be driving across Southern part of Illinois due west so he’ll pass through all the stations.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I live in Southern Illinois and I either park at Shiloh-Scott or the Casino Queen. Both have good security. Shiloh's station is just feet away from an entrance to the Air Force Base. At the Queen, they ask you to park in a specific section which is down by their elevated surveillance tower. The roving security van will register your drivers license number and phone number and when you expect to return. They'll usually offer you a lift to the Metro station (it's not a huge walk, but with luggage I usually appreciate the lift).

I assume parking at Casino Queen is free also.
And the closest Metrolink station from Casino Queen would be East Riverfront, right?

Most Metro Stations do not allow "long-term parking".

According to the Metro website, the only stations allowing long-term parking are I-44/Shrewsbury (25 spaces), Brentwood/I-64 (26), Emerson Park (25), Washington Park (25), Fairview Heights (45), Swansea (25), Belleville (34), College (25) and Shiloh-Scott (50).

I'd go for Brentwood if in Missourah (it's a big parking garage), or Fairview Heights if in Illinois.

All the others like North Hanley, UMSL, etc, you'll get towed.

The problem with parking at Brentwood for the airport is you will have to change trains.

I live in Clayton and usually park at Brentwood/I-64 for their long term parking or park at Clayton (paid). However, if you park at Clayton and leave after 7:00pm or on a weekend, you can essentially park for free. The Clayton garage is far more convenient than Brentwood as you don't need to go upto the 8th/9th level. I have left my car there and had no problems (at either), but keep in mind Clayton is right next to the PD so its extra secure.
