MilesBuzz! - I missed an easy 250 *wood points, now I feel guilty!

I have a confession to make. The hotel I usually stay at has a promotion giving you 250 *wood points when you check and take the survey using the TV. This morning, for the first time since this promotion started, I walked out of my room and checked out downstairs forgetting about the points! This brief laps of judgement make me feel very guilty. I lost 250 perfectly good points that were very easily obtained. Being a mileage/points junkie is not an easy life.

While driving into work I thought a bit more about this and putting it into perspective, while annoying this was probably a pretty small example of losing out on easy points. Someone else got to have done something much worse than this. So, what are some easy points you have missed? The higher the amount of points, the better story I guess.

I'll start myself with my biggest mistake from before I started caring about hotel points. I stayed at a residence inn for four months and did not sign up for marriott rewards! This was in 2000.

Moderator, please move to MileageBuzz. I posted this incorrectly by mistake (yet another one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)

I'm with you on that one. For the longest time, I really couldn't care less about points. When I traveled for business I liked staying at boutique hotels. I thought that was a nicer experience; rather than a cold, drab hotel room.

I missed lots of *wood stays and points over the years. I don't even want to think about how many points were lost.

Today, as a *wood Platinum, I'm pleased to say that many of my stays are not in those cold, drab hotel rooms. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

edited to say that this will make more sense when this thread gets moved.

Well that is NOT a nice thing to say about Dan. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Don't we have 40 or 50 Moderators here these days? Maybe it is Moderator National Holiday Picnic Day?

Typing the word avek00 usually works for me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Otto, you want to come clean on this one? You are giving my staff a bad rap here and you know how protective i can be....

For those coming late to the party.... this is not the way that the system renders edits by admin. Otto is pulling your leg, my leg and perhaps even his own leg. Want to play 'last man standing' on one leg?

Chuckle, chuckle.

Very creative, Otto http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

I was targeted for that survey as was probably everyone else. Of course the site has been swamped and it displays a "try later" message.

Just to help out:

Madras, India to FRA on Lufthansa with no point accrual at all. Also the outbound trip all (PHL-LHR-Madras) got put into a new BA account which has remained orphaned to this day. All because I did not yet know about the idea of "alliances". Luckily FRA-PHL got into my USAir account.
