I reached the $15k threshold on my 2nd billing statement. On my 3rd one I'll have spent >$25k.

Does anyone know when the 15k bonus SPG points will post, please?

I'm still fighting them over the 15k for which I reached the threshold late Sept. Apparently the numbers in the computer do not add up to those on my statements which is the true spend.

Just curious. Are you fighting with SPG or Amex to have your bonus points posted?

What the heck is this bonus? I spend over $100K on my SPG and I've never heard of this?

This is SPG Amex one of the current promotions for applying for a personal or a business card.

I am posting via my Treo and cannot post a link. However, this promo shows up very frequently on flyertalk banners.

I signed up for this credit card in October. Is this an automatic bonus or must I do something to score the bonus points?

It depends on which application you used. The basic one only awards 10,000 bonus points.

There is one with $100 bonus

And the 15,000 bonus points for spending $15,000

I reached 15K on October 10, 2008 and my 15K just posted this morning, and not before I ahd to write to amex to complain about it (which I did about 5 days ago).

Just thought I'd update this since it seems to vary for people. I hit the 15K spend on June 9th (a couple months shy of the 6 month deadline) and 15K SPG bonus points posted today, June 15th. FWIW regular posting date on SPG was the 12th.

I got my SPG biz card around nine months ago under the 10K-15K bonus offer. Got the 10K immediately on first use. 15K did not post even though I spent the $15K in first four months of use (thanks to the mint gold coins and buying Travelers Checks at Amex office (now dead) as well as general spending).

Called customer service a few weeks ago. Was told they would institute a billing error procedure about my Starpoints. A few days later 15K points were in my account.

I had to call SPG to get the points credited because they never showed up.

I recently reached the bonus spending threshold, sort of. I say "sort of" because technically I did put just over the required $15,000 on the card but had forgotten about a refund for an item I bought online. The item did show up as a charge on the card but was then later refunded because the item turned out to be unavailable. I cut it so close that that refund would technically put me just under the $15,000 mark (maybe by a $100 or so) but again, the charge was originally there. In my account summary in one total it says I reached the $15,000 but in another summary it says something like $14,911. What do you think my chances are of convincing them to give me the bonus in this case?

IMHO, quite good if you just call up and say you wonder where your bonus is. See my post #15 above.

I would avoid pointing out you are a bit shy (if you really are) of the 15K spend. Frankly, I have to wonder if you are really 100% certain that you are under the 15K spend--numbers are funny things.

And, I would continue to use the SPG card, at least until I got my bonus or it was clear that no bonus was coming. Not really a problem since SPG points are quite valuable.

Mine never showed up (not surprised based on how the account was originally opened.) Emailed Amex about it, they mailed a response saying to show them the solicitation advertising to me the 15k bonus so I simply printed off the online app showing the bonus and mailed it back. Next month's scheduled SPG point deposit had 15k added on top :)

It looks like the 15k bonus for spending $15,000 in the first 6 months is no longer advertised on the amex site. If I signed up under that bonus, but have not reached my threshold quite yet, will I still get my bonus when I do reach it (assuming I do so before 6 months is up)?

Using a link posted in an earlier post, it looks like it is still valid. ;)

When I apply, I always print (to PDF) all the promotional materials and my application confirmation just in case it gets into a dispute.

My 15,000 bonus points were posted several days after I hit $15K in spending, not even until the statement closed.

UPDATE: When I wrote the original post, the link was still valid showing the $15K spend for 15K bonus offer. Now it is gone. My suggestion: try to find an affiliated website that still has it ASAP if you want the bonus.

Two part answer: Yes, if you signed up under the promo, you're golden. As well, the promotion is still valid, though perhaps not directly on the Amex site. Affiliates of Amex still have that offer as valid.
