Hertz - Minimum Keeps in place all over LA?

I am trying to rent a car from Hertz from LAX starting this afternoon (live near the airport; having an issue with my car.) I cannot book any car at any rate until I extend the rental to 9 days.

All attempted reservations starting today, 12/26, with any return date earlier than 1/4/2009 gives the message:

"We're sorry, there are not any vehicles available for this request. [DE34]"

I tried several locations in the area and found the same thing. I've heard of minimum keeps, due to fleet management issues, of a few days but 9-10 days seems extreme.

Any idea what's up? I guess I'll give my money to someone else. Wanted my Gold points, though..

It works fine for me. I tried booking 12/26 to 1/1 and it worked fine. However, the rates were ridiculous. It was $60-70 per day rate.
