I'd like to propose a feasibility or "is this completely stupid" type of question.

I'm working on booking some flights from FLL to SVD, which would likely involve a FLL-SJU segment on B6 (Jetblue) and a SJU-SVD segment on LI (Liat). For various reasons I cannot book this as a single itinerary, so it will end up being one roundtrip of FLL-SJU-FLL and another roundtrip of SJU-SVD-SJU.

The outbound connection should not be a problem (3 hours in SJU), but the return is a bit short--only 1.5 hours. I'm not yet sure whether there will be checked luggage (I hope not), but I wonder whether this seems suicidal or not? What sort of immigration/customs will be encountered? Is this enough time to transit concourses and check-in with B6?

Thanks.

90 minutes should be enough. There aren't many international arrivals on jets into SJU. IIRC, the regulars are an IB A340 from MAD, AA 757 from CCS, and a new B6 E190 from SDQ. As long as you don't land at the same time as any of the first two, you shouldn't have a problem.

The only risk you have is the reliability of Liat. I am guesssing that your SVD-SJU flight goes via ANU, and you may have an intermediate stop in EIS before you get to SJU. I was on this flight two weeks ago and another PAX was connecting to B6. She was in total panic by the time we got the the immigration hall. The LI flight was 40 mins late, and there were only 2 immigration lanes open. I've never seen that before at SJU.

If you can do this with carry-on only, you'll have a better chance of making your connection. I don't think LI can through check, so you'll have to find a B6 desk in SJU. If LI is on time, 90 mins is sufficient.
