American Express Membership Rewards - 35K MR points - lesser of evils redemption choices

I'm mostly a Starwood Amex user. I'm Platinum in SPG, Silver in HH, nothing in Delta.

I have a Amex Gold Buisness card that I never use, and the $125 fee just came due. I have 35k MR points, nothing looks particularly appealing but if I don't cash them in, I can't cancel.

I use SPG hotels all the time, but the redemption ratio sucks.
I use Hilton infrequently, but occassionally they have the best choice (Strasbourg, Lyon, Delhi).
I have about 45k orphaned points in Delta.

I don't care to use miles domestically. Given the 30% bonus it seems like the best use of the points would be on Delta, even though I'm not even sure 100k points would get me a BE seat to Europe.

Any better thoughts?

Cheers and thanks

Id go with Delta. I've had very good luck with getting Air France Business seats with DL miles.

BE for 100k is possible.. just takes a lot of patience. I just got an open jaw for 100,000 and $41 in taxes- not bad for a $4,500 ticket.

For 100k (or is it 110k) you can go F via SQ (into Frankfurt).

I have a similar situation that I am trying to figure out.

I have 51K Amex MR points. And the annual fee will be coming up soon so I plan to cancel the account. My problem is that I have some miles in a few different places.

I am primarily a UA MP user. I have about 43,000 miles there at the moment and use my MP Visa card for most things.

I also have about 14,500 miles in Virgin's flying club. So I could transfer the points 1:1 into there. I have only ever flown with them once and while I enjoyed it I am not sure I will be going to the UK again any time soon.

I am also an SPG member with no points but am thinking about getting the SPG Amex card to replace the Gold MR card. But the 1:3 transfer rate for the MR points into SPG isn't great.

I am also a general member of a bunch of other programs without any real balances because I typically funnel everything into the MP account. And I usually use the MP miles for business class award flights (on *A partners whenever possible). I have been going to Asia lately a good bit. So, I have thought about starting to funnel miles into the ANA program instead for example. Then I could convert all of the MR points to ANA miles. If I get the SPG Amex card I could also earn points there and convert them into ANA miles 1:1. But ANA's redemption rules are a little difficult to follow and they seem to require a lot more miles to fly in premium classes from USA to SE Asia for example than UA MP does.

The whole thing has me scratching my head. I think there probably is no perfect answer, but I will admit I am more of a novice and dabbler than most people here.

Isn't CO joining Star Alliance? You may want to go that route and possibly get a ticket on a star carrier with CO miles and another with UA miles.
