I must be missing it in my searches (if so, mods please close this thread) but here's a CDP code for a free weekend day at most locations (not NYC, like usual). I used it for a full size rental in Pittsburgh -- $10 total (just the taxes).

Initially found at fatwallet, also saw it on Hertz's homepage

That's insane...seriously. Just priced a midsize and after discount - $6.43 estimate. It will probably come out less.

FYI I picked up a full size car today for total of $5 and change in Pittsburgh (according to the contract). The online quote was $10. :)

It was released via TravelZoo today also. Looks like use is restricted to once each calendar month.
$23.73 at SFO on 12/27 due to $17.50 "Transportation Fee and Facilities Charge"

The rules say one per month. Is this calendar month, or a rolling month?
Does Hertz actually have a way to track this? Anybody do the deal more than once in the past month?

On a previous question - I'm expecting the once per month is by calendar month. How else should one try to interpret "month"? Then again, I had a business tell me Saturday and Sunday were the same "week" recently ...
Currently using this promo as part of a two-day rental at BWI, for a total cost far less than Avis' "50% off" sale. Will use it again on February 6 as part of CO Do IV at IAH ...

Nice! :D
Any good bonus promos for points/miles/credits that aren't attached to a PC code? Otherwise, I guess a 1/2 WN or perhaps some Marriott points is the way to go with this one.
In some areas, the 4xWN promo that is out there now might be even better...I think there's usually a 2-day minimum on that one.

Great deal but it brings up an issue for me and probably many other folks.... go ahead an exclude major cities such as NYC but don't exclude an entire state such as Florida... or simply make it so folks with an out of state driver's license who come into the respective city/state can't use the promo. No need to screw over a resident of that state.

It's probably just a supply/demand thing. Florida's peak demand is winter, whereas most places in the U.S. have low demand. So they can give away a car for $6 in Kansas, but in Florida someone will actually rent it for $35/day.

Yes, since Jacksonville is such a hot vacation destination  (rolling my eyes at Hertz, not you.)
It's wonderful that Hertz is offering this... was just a letdown when I tried to book and the Hertz web site said "I didn't meet all terms and conditions." Then I saw the line about Florida. Seriously, we're not Orlando, Miami, Key West, Tampa, Daytona, or even Pensacola. Like we say here in Jacksonville, we're a lot more Georgia than Florida here. In fact, JAX airport is about 15 miles from Georgia as the crow flies. Grrr... we're always lumped in with the rest of Florida and excluded from ALL the car rental deals even though we're not that high a demand spot (really). Sorry for the rant ;) just disappointed.

Yeah, Florida residents pay roughly $70 instead of roughly $80.

I rented a Full Size at my HLE last week and it quoted for about 5$. When I returned it the balance was zero :)
Now, will we get miles for this ?
Also how do they prevent from using this more often ? It let's me reserve a car for free every week... Do they track it by CC # ?

I, too, wonder about these things... and, addtionally...
Does this count toward Five Star and Presidents Circle?
I am certain the knowledge and experience to answer these questions is here.

No miles and no credit just like any other zero revenue rental.
I concur based off of my experience with this promo. I did not get #1 points or a rental credit. I have an upcoming rental where I added NeverLost for some additional $, we'll see if that changes the equation.

My 2009 Rental YTD total ticked one higher as a result of this rental... Isn't that what counts towards Five Star?
I rented a Full Size but was downgraded. Estimate was like $6, but at check out it was $0.
I, too, wonder how they keep track of using this just once a month.
It's too soon to know if I got .5 Southwest Credits, but I'm not holding my breath.
If I got a free rental, and one closer to Five Star, I'm happy.
