Starwood Preferred Guest - Candidates for cheap yearend stays

I am looking for a Starwood property that is very cheap. I am 4 nights short of Plat this year, and the cheapest I can find in my area is $99 per night plus taxes. (or 130 per night using the stay 3 get 4th free). I know this is reasonable, and will go through with it if nothing else comes about, but I figured it would be worth a try to find something even cheaper.

Although it may not work, I am going to make the reservation, and then contact the hotel directly, inform them of my intentions, and see if they will check me in over the phone. If not, I will move on to the next hotel.

Anyways, I cant seem to find anywhere out there to just find a Starwood property at its cheapest where location doesn't matter (and rightfully so), so I thought I would come to you guys.

Know any very cheap 4 points/starwood prop's in your area? Any having specials?

Thanks,

Just did a stay mattress run at ORD 4-PT last weekend for $64. This weekend rate is even better at $57 (when I checked last week for this week's rate, but I couldn't do this weekend). Weekday rates are higher however.

Thanks. I only see 68 but still cheaper than my alternative!

Don't come here. Our cheapest is over €150 and the way the dollar is tanking that is something like a million.

If I am correct the four points in brussels goes for 64 euro's a night... the sheraton Brussels (extremely outdated) goes for 84 euro in the weekends.

Fellow Canuck,

Do a search of SFP "Mississauga" and you'll see 3 properties - Argentia Road, Airport Road and Dixie Road. They all have a weekend rate of around $90 per night, however, they all qualify for the 50% off your second night promotion so that should get you 4 nights for $270 plus taxes...good luck. Remember - weekends are cheaper for these properties.

Here in MCO there are a lot of options. The cheapest is usually around $90, but I have seen the Sheraton Suites Orlando Airport at under $50. I almost snagged it for a mattress run but ended up hitting the beach for a day in FLL at the Yankee Clipper for about $100.

Pleasanton, California in the Far East Bay from San Francisco has a Sheraton and a Four Points. Both of these hotels in the Corporate Headquarters city of Pleasanton typically have rates under $80 per night for Friday and Saturday. Rates for some weekends recently have dropped to $65 for both properties.

I've never actually done a mattress run there because it is so far from any place I normally want to be and San Francisco is the same distance from my home. I've stayed at both hotels and they are both nice with large outdoor pools.

Old town Pleasanton (a few miles from the hotels) has a California valley town culture gone gentrified with antique stores, boutiques, fine dining restaurants, and farm supply stores.

Starpicks Atlanta has Sheraton Airport and Sheraton Perimeter $79. With the platinum bene it's a much better value than HI.

Which I just booked for this Saturday night, to get my 8th stay for the 4Q promo. :)
And by chance, my wife is flying out of LAX the next morning, so she can sleep a little later and still get to airport in time to buy her magazines.

Just booked a rate of $55/night at 4 Points Kansas City Airport for 12/21. Also, the 4 Points Ohare has been running about $64 night also on a lot of nights I have been checking.

Thanks guys - If a mod wants to change this title to be more aimed at places for cheap year end mattress runs, I think it would be great!

79 per night, 87 all in for a deluxe room.

the good thing about this property is that they offer free breakfast for elite members. Not super tasty but it works for me.

Have you considered using Z3H (stay 2 get 3rd free) or ZBT (2nd night 50%) promotion on these properties?

Hi Dave,
I have actually found it cheaper than that-but only on select weekend dates.
I did not personally take advantage if the $47/$55 rates I found because I did not need any extra stays.
But $75 for this place is about what the BAR should be IMO!

Just wanted to let everyone know that with the 50% off second night, you can get Dec 26-28th for 97.50. Going to call hotel tomorrow and ask if they will allow telephone check in. 16% taxes though. Brutal.

Are you serious? You physically need to check in at the hotel's registration desk. Checking out is one thing, if anyone could "check in" via phone, nobody would do it and everyone would be platinum. Especially at this time of the year.

Yes I am serious. I think I can find a GM who wants the revenue. But thanks for your concern.

Look.... when are you going to learn that there are some here who dont take kindly to any advice ... no matter how correct and/or useful it might be:rolleyes:

Standby for the first thread of the new year:
" Needed one stay to qualify for Plat .. Checked in by phone as per manager's advice... my stay did post and the Platinum desk says "tough luck" ... I am so pissed I am moving all my stays to Hilton":D

" P.S. I was absolutely positive that despite breaking the SPG program rules... my $69.00 one night stay was going to push the hotel into the black for 2008" :)

LOL

I guess i've read it all here on FT. If CanuckFlyHigh, can check in via phone I would be very disappointed. IF a GM is that desperate to allow someone to check in via phone, then they aren't doing there job and it opens up the door for many problems.

For those in NYC (or who want to be in NYC), the Four Points Chelsea has nights for $165. Not a great property, but $165 in NYC isn't bad. I booked a night to hit Plat...should've taken the double stay Q4 promo.
