Hi Folks

First post here, although long time lurker, please be gentle :D

I managed to snap up 2 first class returns with BA to LAX during the 50% off sale for myself and my girlfriend, we're really looking forward to the trip! We're travelling 26th Dec and returning on the 6th.

I've done a lot of research on prices and produced a spreadsheet with the different offers I can get at the moment. I've narrowed it down to spending < 3000 USD for the hotel room for the 11 nights, which basically gives me the following options:

MGM Grand Celebrity Spa Suite OR Bungalow Suite
MGM Signature Junior Suite
Palazzo Luxury
Wynn Las Vegas Resort Room
Encore Las Vegas Resort Suite
Bellagio Deluxe Room
Monte Carlo Monaco Suite
Mandalay Bay 750GR Suite
Venetian Luxury
Mirage Tower Deluxe

Any recommendations? We're looking for somewhere reasonably central for the fun on New Year's eve, I've only been to Vegas once before and that time stayed in the Mandalay Bay.

Just for information during my 'research' I found the tropicana garden room at $851 for 11 nights :D, and perhaps more seriously the excalibur widescreen tower room at $1,101 for 11 nights - there certainly seems to be some good deals out there?

Many thanks ^

The Tropicana garden room is a particularly egregious ripoff.

Given that, I can't advise you on one of the other options presented - I stay at whatever hotel will give me a room for my play (or under a best-rate guarantee).

Welcome to FT!

For central location and the Vegas luxe feel that you and your girlfriend deserve, focus on these choices:

# Palazzo Luxury
# Wynn Las Vegas Resort Room
# Encore Las Vegas Resort Suite
# Bellagio Deluxe Room

Encore and Wynn are running some deals right now - see other threads in this forum.

And you may want to try Priceline with a 5-star property in North Strip. You will usually get Venetian and there have been reports that Trump Tower and Wynn are also on Priceline these days.

Hotwire is showing $119/night or roughly $1300 for the stay at their single 5-star property in central Strip - it's almost assuredly Venetian or Wynn.

I hope you mean LAS or you better start looking for hotels in Los Angeles.

Agree with everything DenverBrian indicated with caution regarding Priceline. Seems Trump Tower is the preferred choice with Priceline and while its location is not bad, you'll need to weigh the difference between Trump and and the convenience of staying at a hotel directly on the strip at, quite possibly, only a slightly higher rate.

Encore would be my pick of that litter.

Thanks for your replies guys, I called Encore and was convinced to go for a Panoramic Suite with Strip view - the same as a Resort Suite but the top 10 floors I'm told.

I was quoted an average of $291.72 per night, across 11 nights (26th Dec through 6th Jan)

Fingers crossed as there aren't many pictures of Encore yet

Good luck! You might even be the very first guest in your room at Encore.
