Likely of interest only to Canadians but...

The new Aeroplan eStore links to various SPG hotel booking sites. This means you can earn both AE miles and SPG points (or airline miles) on your stays. AE offers 1 AE mile per C$1 spent on your room independent of whatever you collect through SPG.

Of course you could be triple dipping by charging the stay on an AE generating credit card!

Wow! This is awesome. For me, often my bill is large cause i stay for 4-5 nights. For people with 1-2 night stays, the 500 book online bonus would be better, but for me with large bills this is wayyy better!

Thanks so much.

Has SPG even had an online booking bonus in 2008? It has been a long time since I recall points for online booking.

It used to happen when their call-centres couldn't handle the load.

Therefore, in order to see its return, whenever the 500 points bonus is not up, all FTs should inundate their reservations phone lines!

It comes up almost every Sunday (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starwood-preferred-guest/412886-book-line-get-500-points.html)! I got it 22 times out of 28 reservations this year!

Since my stays are only ever one night and my room rate is usually under $150, I would much prefer the 500 pt online booking bonus, but for the times it is not available, I will opt for Aeroplan e-store.

Mind sharing when/what time usually on Sunday. I don't have the luck to see the site up though.

Click on the link I provided! There is a whole thread to let everyone know when the site is up.

You can also get notified via e-mail when someone posts to this thread.

Under "Thread Tools", click on "Subscribe to this Thread" and request notification by e-mail when someone posts to the thread. Works like a charm! Someone else recommended same to me in this very thread, and I'm happy to pass it on!
