Hi -
Is it worth upgrading my Gold Plus to Platinum(with 25k MR points) and pay $300 more annually.
I travel quite a lot but with no domestic program i don't any good benefits other than airport lounge access.
I might cancel my Gold plus card as i am not making much use of it. I have been using my Blue Cash since 3 years now.
Which will be the best card for me considering i travel like 2-3 weeks every month? I was thinking of getting a SPG card where i can get points for every dollar spend.
Also what is the best way to transfer my 6k something MR points?
Thanks

I've had the plat card for about six months and I am not going to renew it. It just has not proven to be worth the money to me. I got it primarily for lounge access, it that has not been as good as I thought it would. I just spent six hours in the Amsterdam airport and it didn't work in the KLM lounge.
The two for one domestic ticket deal is gone now too. I've just come to the conclusion it's not worth $450 a year. My two cents.

I just cancelled my Gold card. They tried to save me by offering an upgrade to the Plat. Hey, if I didn't think a $135 card was worth it, why in god's name would I pay $450? Nah, I'll stay with my AA MasterCard.
Plus the level of junk mail for sweepstakes and Amex Publishing was tremendous and annoying.

Was offered $55 statement credit or 5500 Rewards points. I declined, but have not cancelled the card quite yet as it is good until mid-January without paying a fee.
Anyone else have luck in getting more than $55?

Thanks for all your inputs. One thing is clear now that i'll cancel my gold card.
I have couple of more questions:
1. How can i make best use of around 5500 MR points?
2. Is it advisable to carry two credit cards? I am thinking of getting SPG card from Amex and one of the CSA told me that you should avoid keeping 2 credit cards. Get another charge card instead.
3. What would be the best card for me? I travel quite a lot(mostly with NW as all my accumulated miles are there) and generally stay with Hilton/Marriott and rent from Hertz.
Thanks in advance

If you stay in a lot of Hiltons, you should look into the Hilton Amex card in lieu of the SPG one perhaps. You can transfer your existing MR points to the Amex partner of your choice: probably DL considering their recent acquisition of NW. Many people have 2 or more than 2 credit cards, it's not the worst thing - just don't max them out or get near the limits and your credit score won't take a hit. I don't think that having 2 charge cards vs. 2 credit cards would make a significant difference.
