Hertz - New Years Resolution-NO MORE HERTZ!

I am starting my 2009 NYresolution early..like TODAY! I am swearing off Hertz!!!
Recently, I have been 1-downgraded (always rent premium) three times, and 2-had no car available, as a presidents circle member.
Downgrades have been at BOS, ALB, and ORD. No car available was a second time at ALB.
Today, after a nice downgrade at BOS last week, and returning it and having at LEAST 25 people in front of me waiting for a receipt, I found out that BOS never checked my rental back in! Called Hertz CS, and they said ONLY the BOS station could rectify.
Called...and called...and called....and called....nothing but voicemail. :td:
So long to cr@ppy cars with cr@ppier service!

Please enlighten us as to what cars were considered Premium during your downgrade experiences. :D

And where are you going to rent?
Sorry, but having rented from pretty much all of the biggies in the last year...... the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence... due to more manure being spread. There really isn't a "top notch consistent" winner. Quality by location varies dramatically!

You may be right, but I have found National's Emerald Aisle service to be consistently less crappy than Hertz.
National's counter service locations may have nothing special on Hertz, Avis or anyone else, however.

I may not switch, but spread out more. The service is fine but the cars are not.
-I should not have to walk a 1/4 of a mile to a counter to ask for an upgrade.
-I should not have to call or email and complain about it and be told it will be noted for my next rental and it be a total lie.

A perfectly rational approach! ^

That would be why my last attempt at National had ONLY Malibus on the EA? And those were cars that I think might have been cleaned a few months ago. (And this was FLORIDA no weather excuse LOL!)
Sadly in all too many locations of National the ALAMO model is spreading. Ask an employee for assistance, get a shrug... return the car and tell them somethings wrong with it, get a shrug. (And note that car is not marked so it probably went RIGHT back into service) Would it have killed them to say "sorry" Guess so, they really seem unhappy to be working there! I used to love National but.... First Alamo and now "ENTERPRISE!" EEEK!

I had this happen at Toronto airport... they never checked it in and the billed me for 15 days or something crazy. No one could fix.. the station sent me to CS, CS to station.. I finally faxed in my airline itinerary and someone adjusted after a month... the only good thing is I got to keep the Hertz points.. although it was hardly worth it considering the hassle.
