Budget - Budget at MIA - just seems like hard work

I just completed a pick up and drop off at MIA. To be fair some of these comments are not unique to Budget, but MIA in general.

From what I was able to deduce, all car rental companies are off airport at MIA. This means that you have to stand outside arrivals, keep an eye on 4 lanes of traffic (divided by a median) to spot your bus. Once you see it, be prepared to wave frantically before trying to drag your bags to the bus. Credit to the driver as he was straight up helping passengers with bags - have a few dollars close to hand to tip him
Bus then takes you to what can only be described as an industrial estate which a local described to me as "not a nice part of Miami." What a lovely introduction to Miami for the tourist :rolleyes:
I have never experienced such loooonnnnnggggg waits to pick up a rental car. It took forever.
We then received an Explorer with white paint spatter the whole way down the drivers side. I was not too pleased, I would have thought that they would have taken the vehicle out of service, thankfully the duty manager quickly changed us to a Trail Blazer
On the return --> god what a convoluted route you have to take !! Follow signs for airport from the freeway, you then end up all over the place.

I guess that the comments are more directed at MIA in general, they need to get their act together and make this a more traveller friendly experience. But then again, MIA is just a dump in general ......

Other airports make the "off airport" experience much more friendly (think SFO), the folks at MIA need to take a leaf out of their book.

Yes.. Budget is horrible. bad experience there just this past weekend. Horrible Fastbreak/Customer Service. Horrible car. I don't have any problems getting there since I know where its at... but alas the new MIC (Miami Intermodal Center) is under construction which will house car rental companies and be the transportation hub for the airport. Until then, road closures and construction make it more of a hassle than it needs to be.

MIA is a mess but I tend to get great upgrades at avis(sister company to budget same fleet)

The shuttle operations are not timely at odd or busy hours, which is when I need them most. And it never failed when I was in a hurry the shuttle driver was just poking along and waitng on every soul on the lot to enter the shuttle even if they are picking up their car!

Anyway, MIA is terrible, and there is not really much 'good part' of Miami so rental lots are just MIAMI!

Now that sounds interesting, here is hoping that they take a leaf out of SFO's book and make it as passenger friendly as possible ^^^^

In a land of desolation, Budget still stands out as a HORRIBLE experience, regardless of whether you rent 50 cars a year from Budget or one.

Avoid Budget MIA!!!!!
