I just want to make sure that I have this right, as I've never looked into qualifying this way, but one can get Diamond with 100,000 base points, since one earns 10 per $1, that means $10,000 in spend in a calendar year gives one Diamond right?

Trying to plan out next year and think this may be the best way for me to go so that I can also retain Hyatt Diamond, which I have to do on number of stays. So 25 Hyatt Stays and then $10,000 at Hiltons - which is pretty easy, usually a week in NYC (3 nights) costs me $1000 just in room rate, so 10 NYC stays and I'm good.

Can someone please confirm that I got this right?

Thanks.

Yes that's correct. $10000 spend in one calendar year will get you Diamond status. The Hhonors terms and conditions to achieve Diamond status are:
To Qualify
Hilton HHonors Diamond VIP membership will be awarded to Members with 28 stays*, 60 nights* or 100,000 Base points earned during any calendar year. A "night" is a night that is part of a "stay," as that term is defined herein. Base points earned will count toward Diamond VIP tier qualification. Bonus points earned on Base points do not count toward VIP tier qualification.

Note that taxes are not included in the base point calculation.

However, all other incidentals are included. ^ Even the restaurant charges if charged to the room.

Awesome. That means I can dramatically cut back on Hilton and move that towards Hyatt - I did make Diamond at both this year, but Hyatt was difficult (the double promos helped otherwise I'd only have 21 Hyatt stays), but I'll have almost $23K in spend at Hilton.
