What's wrong with the Starwood points? You can transfer those to AA if you wish. Generally 1 SPG point --> 1 AA mile, but if you transfer 20k SPG points --> 25k AA miles.

Thanks for the input and we'll see what we can do. At this time we're actually working on promotions involving Priority Club and United. We like the incentive that perhaps those with the United Mileage Plus Visa might have with double miles might be rewarded - ala the current Delta SkyMiles American Express card promotion. Since there is a huge United following on FlyerTalk, this was one of the earlier requests.
We'll see what we can offer for AAdvantage miles if it will make a decision for you to subscribe to InsideFlyer.
As for Starwood, we'll see....

i got in early on valuemags - so no starwood/inside flyer magazines for moi.
but i may have money to spend coming up, so it would be between starwood or aa - but aa would be better because it's just one less hurdle to jump over http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Can I "read into" those three little dots??? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I ordered tons of IF subs for *points (check the records, Randy, and tell the people if I'm a lyin' http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif) but now I'm sorry I didn't order a few more!
BTW, for anyone who didn't to the deal, the starpoints-> AAdvantage process was completely painless and very efficient-- as was the whole process-- and the bonus you get from *wood was GREAT. So, I'll second the vote to bring back the starwood deal-- not a direct AA deal, given a choice. *points are the best, most flexible point out there, IMHO.

I am game (again) for an AA-Starwood Mag promo...
..I can't explain why, but if Randy decides to add a 3500 mile per sub deal, I would be inclined to make another $1500 or so transaction. I did not, and will not participate in the United deal,....because...just because.
FWIW, I think (the) AA 3500 per sub deal would flood IF. AA miles for the sake of award travel are so much more attractive than UA. I have NEVER had more than a simple date change to aquire a reward seat internationally with AA. Which explains my willingness to part with my four-figure dollar amount. My only problem would be finding hands for the extra issues :')

I think it would be great if IF/Starwood could do the deal once a year- like the Diners/BA connection.
I ordered all the subs I could afford (and then some http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif )- have enough QF points for several trips to Europe in BA F or Concorde, and enough Starpoints in reserve for a rainy day.
But by next summer I might be ready for more!

If you give AA miles for subscritions, like the 3,500 per sub noted above, 11 subscriptions run afoul of this (below) from the AAdvantage Marketing site? I mean I'm assuming you'd be buying miles there to give as incentives to buy subscriptions? Or you're buying somewhere else? How to get around this?

Never thought I'd be doing this. Having spend nearly $12K on subs so far, am ready for another starwood promotion. Didn't appreciate the promos power until recently. I can convince my friends circle to spend at least $25K on starwood the next time it comes around.

Given that the Starwood promo worked out to about 1.92 cents/mile (including the 20K-->25K SPG transfer option), a 3000 mile promo won't do it for me. At 3500 miles for the same $59.95, I might bite. At 4000 miles, I would certainly partake....in a major way.

0.96 c/mile if you move it into Qantas...
=> 3 BA R/T LHR-HKG in F for less than the list price of one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I too would go for another hundred or two subscriptions if the SPG offer were repeated.

Actually, I'm more prissed I didn't just buy the IF for the SPG points. I have lots of FF miles and happy to burn them, albeit slowly for award tickets and upgrades. However, I hate to spend money on hotel rooms, especially nice hotel rooms http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif. So, the ability to get 2500 Starwood points (the equivalent of 4 nights of a moderate priced westin on a gov't rate) for the price of one magazine subscription was choice for me. Oh well, live and learn.

I wish SPG would allow you to do a airline point transfer to SPG point. I would settle for 1 airline mile to .75 SPG point.

Assuming this offer isn't just being tested, you can get 3000 AA miles per $60 subscription until 12/31, just like UA (but with a higher, 35k mile per year limit).

Is there a $100 "mile earning fee" or something like that in the fine print?
You know, we can't do anything with a $100 fee.

I vote for the Starwood Points. If Randy does an American Airlines offer, he would have to offer 3125 AA miles per subscription to equal the 2500 Starwood previous offer. Eight subscriptions of each offer would give you 25,000 AA miles. Randy, I would not expect a great responce from any United offer, but we will see. I have plenty of friends who would jump at the same Starwood offer, or any AA offer at or above 3125 miles/subscription. Do the same Starwood offer before the end of the year and you will be plesently surprised!

I'd caution anyone hoping to use Inside Flyer-generated miles on a UA premium ticket.
It appears that United is making virtually no 1st-class seats available on most or all US-Asia flights for all of 2003.

Most important thing to remember is you cant order more than 11 Subs totallying 33K miles. AA wont allow that. So therefore its not a big deal. Wish we were allowed to buy 100 or more subs.

Oh come on now, you certainly can figure out how to get more miles from this: Hint - share. That's right, you could purchase another 5 subscriptions for someone else and then "share" or transfer those miles into your account and AA allows up to 15,000 miles to come into your account from others (see story of "sharing" in the NotiFlyer news area of WebFlyer). Grand total would be 50,000 miles. To move those miles from another account would cost you $150 with this new sharing program AAdvantage has.

"so, now we're up to 'only 50,000' miles"
When I first read this I thought, my thoughts exactly but it appears it isn't meant as I would use it.
As Randy would say 'oh come on'... were frequent flyer programs really meant to be reduced to buying, for the most part, unwanted stuff solely for the miles? That doesn't sound like a frequent flyer program to me it sounds like a fat wallet program.
If everyone thinks nirvana is unilimited purchasable miles with no effort at a price way below what they can be redeemed for, think again. It will mean higher redemption costs or some other mechanism to compensate.
What kills me is the level of expectation and entitlement thinking that has grown from these programs...what's reasonable is NOT to expect to be able to sashay in somewhere and pick up a million frequent flyer miles. Do it the hard way... have a high FF balance and elite status and get KLM to match it http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ! (meant as humor)

I don't think it's a case of entitlement or expectation. In my mind it's more a case of being educated. It's akin to being in an industry and knowing how to get things wholesale that most others pay retail for. For instance, I was in the cellular industry and still know the ins and outs. Most people pay $20.00-$60.00 for an aftermarket battery that I can find with no effort for approximately $6.50. Or a car cord at $9.95 that costs $.85.
