Try: BetterBidding.com (http://www.betterbidding.com/) or BiddingforTravel.com (http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/)

Lots of info in both. Search for threads in FT about each of them and draw your own conclusions. One is definitely better than the other IMO.;)

Since this is not related to any mileage run, I am moving this thread to the Budget Travel forum.

Kind Regards

I used Priceline for the first time this week. I wanted a hotel in the historic district of Savannah for St Patrick's day and all the hotels were 299.00 and up. I put in 125.00 a night for two nights and bingo I came back with a room at the Marriott Riverside, very close to the parade route and at the end of the river street party action. I was thrilled.

Sorry to bounce this again, but we do have an online bidding forum and I believe you will get the most responses there. Good luck!

Congratulations but just so you know, I HATE my bid being accepted the first time I bid. That almost always means I bid more than I could have. Depends on how long in advance I am booking for but for March, you probably could have bid less. But in any case, heck, you are pleased and that is what counts!

Two great sites!^

If you do your homework, you will be almost certain on what particular hotel you are bidding on.

Just be willing to accept any hotel in that category/star level. You can be surprised sometimes.

Priceline is one of the greatest things to happen to travel. If you use the sites BetterBidding.com or BiddingforTravel.com and educate yourself as to bidding strategies, you can land some killer deals.

In October I stayed at the Gran Melia (Resort Level) in Cancun for $70. per night which was incredible. In April we'll be at the Omni (Resort Level) in Orlando for $95. per night (retail $199 to $239 per night).

I now try and use Priceline for every trip.

I can't believe that they don't have more of a following.

Ive used PL just a few times mainly when I need a room by an Airport, only if teh Rates are out in space. If the rates are cheap enough , Idrather score the credit towards requalifying for my Elite Level and get the pts as well as it depends if theres an ongoing promo

That said since I dont need lounge access or an Exec room, I dont mind whatever type and location of room I get. But I highly doubt that I ever will use PL for a Resort, where Ill be spending X amount of days. Thats when I want to score a decent Upgarde based on my status and Lounge Access and not end up on some Island with a view of the back alley and have a great view of the garbage pick-up

I'm thinking of useing Priceline for the first time. I'm going to be bidding for something in the LAX Area. if I pick a 3 1/2 star, or 4 star should I be happy? Any idea of what I might get?
I'm going to check out those two links posted earlier on. some early evening reading.

I picked a four star yesterday and got the Sheraton Gateway for $80 a night. I don't know if that's cheap but I was happy with that, as it was half the best rate I found elsewhere. I was looking for the end of January . . .

Don't know if that helps you but there you go. Last year I used Priceline for Hawaii and ended up at the Hyatt at 1/2 their posted rate also, for mid Jan. So again, not sure if I could have found something cheaper, but the Hyatt in Waikiki was everything I ever wanted in a hotel (except they wouldn't accomodate late checkout even though the hotel wasn't full - just a ploy though to get a day rate out of the room).
