Has anyone been able to reserve 80K (first seat on right-hand side of the upper deck) on a 74A? Went through some old threads and one op suggested it was a great seat, so I was looking to try it out.

However, when trying to reserve it via my contact at CX (for a flight on CX883), the agent said that the seat wasn't even in her system. I asked whether it was held back as a crew rest seat, but she said her computer didn't even show there was such a row. This contradicts the SeatGuru map for the 74A.

I'm wondering if 80K is available for shorter flights when a crew rest seat isn't required, but is blocked out for the long-hauls.

Any insight? Thanks!

Actually I was not aware of the crew seat in 74A before. However, there are two crew seats in 744 (and 74J). They are released to passengers on short haul. I took it once on a HKG-TPE flight, but there was nothing special.

Yes, 80K is usually blocked for long hauls, even if J class is full, and released on short hauls. However, I was re-located to there by the ISM due to problems with my seat.

I often get the4 seat next to it and usually they have someone in there at one time or another during a long haul flight

80K is available on short hauls only when they don't need it for crew rest.

Last time when I was on 81A, the captain's son was sitting there...

Thanks for all the replies. Guess I'll stick with 81A or 81K.
Cheers!
