Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Waitlisted

Hi I called Singapore Airlines to change the route of my upcoming flight this coming Saturday and they have me waitlisted. However, when I log into my SA account it shows me being waitlisted and lets me try to select my seat. I see a whole bunch of seats available but when I do try to select my seat it says I can't.

Given that there are many seats available, is it likely that I will be able to get on the flight? I have never been waitlisted, so I don't know what my chances are.

The flight is from Singapore to SF if that helps.

Well..it depends no your booking class. I assume you are flying in Y cabin. Although there are many seats havent been assigned... it does not mean the flight is empty, though I am bit a curious this time of the year since financial crisis hit all over the world... the load factor will be full. Flight to Europe somehow is quite empty. So I would suggest dont panic and check in another 2 or 3 days if the seat is coming up, otherwise give SQ a call one more time.

Do you have any status at all either as a Star Alliance member or a KF member? If yes than you will have preference, if not then keep your fingers crossed.
