Question...

On my last trip to El Salvador (2005 or 2006 I believe), I had to pay $10 on arrival for a "tourist card" which was a full-page sticker placed in my passport and then stamped "entry". My passport is pretty full...only one page with any space left (2 extensions already). Does El Salvador still use the full page "tourist card" sticker or is it now a piece of paper, a la Panama?

Thanks!

It is a piece of paper, at least as of this past Spring. The arrivals lines at SAL have been reconfigured, and those who need the tourist card are shunted into their own line. This tends to speed things up.

The tourist card still takes up a whole page. Up until about two weeks ago, the immigration official would stick it on a peice of paper so that it did not take up a passport page, and would just put the regular stamp in the 1/4 passport page. They have been told they can no longer do that, so they are supposed to put the tourist card on the passport page. During my last visit about a week ago, I did not have a empty page so they put the card on a seperate peice of paper. YMMV.
