Hello All,
I'm sure someone has a couple data points on this route. Looking to book and now I've noticed some Airbuses doing this trip now in addition to the 752's. As a platinum, how hard are upgrades on Th, F, Sat West bound and Sun, Mon, Tues e/b on this route right now? My gut tells me XXX-PHX-LAS might be easier than XXX-CLT-LAS, but the CLT times are better.

Thanks,
Cessnadriver

If they are running the old US Airways 757, it's really tough since there are only 8 seats in F class (and the seats in row 1 are terrible)! If it's Am West metal, then there are 14 seats in F class, and you have a much better shot at the upgrade...

As a gold this year, I have been upgraded 4/4 times westbound and 2/4 eastbound. I tend to take the last flight out each day.

I used to fly CLT-LAS-SAN on a weekly basis, all on Sunday night on the last CLT-LAS departure. Last year (and for a few years before that), as a Chairman, I was only upgraded maybe 60% of the time: Not surprisingly, I missed quite a few on this route, mainly because there are only 8F seats. Thankfully, I'm always in 8D or 8F otherwise, which I consider -notwithstanding seat width and free drinks in F- probably the best seats on the plane. I haven't flown this since Feb 08.

LarryG - wow, if you're Gold and you got all of your WB flights, that must mean a lot fewer paid F customers and elites flying!

On a recent trip PHL-LAS, I was offered the upgrade PURCHASE option (since I have no status on US anymore) when doing online check-in. One way was on the A321, and the return was on the 752.

Do you remember how much it was? I also have no US status and am doing JFK-LAS in a month or so, and itd be interesting to know how much an upg at checkin would be ( i assume JFK and PHL have similar pricing) .

As a GP or SP (never made Platinum) flying to LAS at least once a year in the last 18 years I have never, repeat never, been upgraded CLT-LAS. I usually take morning or noon flights.

As of 05/2008, the LAS-JFK was $150. Not sure if it has gone up since.

Any recent experience on what to expect for food in F on this route?
US#790 LAS-CLT (2:15 p.m. departure).

Itin says there's a "meal" - but no idea what that means on US these days.

TIA.

I flew PIT-LAX-PIT in FC last week on an award ticket.

My flight out was at 8:15am. I was in 3D, they ran out of the hot breakfast by the time they got to me, so I got a bowl of strawberry yogurt with a packet of nuts, fruit and a croissant. :td:

On the way back, my flight left at 11:30am. Choice of ham & cheese sandwich or bbq chicken salad. I chose the ham sandwich, which they still had when they got to me (3D again). It was on some kind of cheese bread. :td: Also some spicy chips :td: Potato Salad was good. Warm chocolate chip bar was the best part. ^

The leg room in 3D was horrible. They guy in front of me on the way home reclined all the way back, had a hard time getting out, the guy next to me got out to use the restroom, he almost took the guys head off trying to get through.:td::td:

Agreed. As in my previous post, it was even hard upgrading on the 752's as a Chairman's. Can't imagine as a SP or even GP ever seeing F on that route.

It was $150. There were hot meal choices.
