What I mean is if I use YOUR points, and check in with my Gold HH card and spend up in the bar and room service etc on the folio for a few days can I swing it that the stay credits accrue to ME?
Or do they ALWAYS go to the points providing member?

I don't know what is the actual HH policy, but that is exactly what happened. My daughter used my points, checked in with her credit card. I got stay credit. I suspect that if you can talk the front desk into changing the HH number on the folio, then you would indeed get the stay and point credits.

I don't know the actual rules, but I don't think YOU can get the stay credit if you use someone else's points for the award stay. The award reservation has the other person's HH account number where the points came from, so even though you can get points from incidental charges with your HH number, you will not get the stay credit.

got stay credit for an award stay on my points ... but there was no attempt to swap the HH# out. Maybe if you have a reward cert. with the points from another member and then book a seperate reward reservation. Interesting question.

If I issue the award certificate in the other person's name, and they make their own booking, they get the stay credit. In this case, my name and my Hhonors number is not on the reservation.
If I issue the award certificate in my name and I make the booking in their name and mine, I get the stay credit.
My preference is always to do the first because it is much cleaner for the person who is using the cert. Of course, that means if someone with no status hopes to benefit from my status, they will not.

It makes absoulutely no sense that isssuing an award in ones name and not actually staying at a property that the issuer should get stay credit... in fact I would say that contradicts the T&C of the HH program which specifically states that to get stay credit one MUST stay at the property.... to extend this further its quite concievable that by repaeating the procedure one could qualify for Gold or Diamond without ever setting foot in a Hilton hotel:rolleyes:

On the very few ocasions I have done sometime along the lines of the OPs question I find that even inserting ones HH number at checkin is not enough.
On many ocasions the folio information reverts to the original state/data at checkout so should the actual stayer want HH credit, it is imperative that he obtains a printed folio at checkout reflecting the accurate info so if the stay does not post as is quite posiible, he has an accurate document to submit to the HH Service Center for the proper credit.
In every instance that I have had certificates issued by others for my use I have been able to get stay credit for my account.

I hadn't had the need to book an award for anybody other than myself until just recently. I called the diamond desk & made a reservation for a friend -- I've received the confirmation certs & the reservation shows the friends name and my HH # & contact info.
I simply worked through the process with no intention of receiving credit for the friends stay, but it seems there is a chance it will happen?
I'll post later this month & report whether I received credit for the stay.

I agree with you, and it has never been my intent to get credit for their stay. Regardless, as you say, the Hilton IT system can be wonky.
And when someone has given me a cert for a Hilton stay, I have always gotten my own stay credit.
