Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Club Magazines: Do you read most of the pages?

I've got my Quarter Four 2008 Club Magazine and really I basically just read sections such as message from the club (from Katie Rowen), inside CX (which is behind the scenes with CX crews for this copy that discusses ISM Lucy and her encounter with an onboard pax who's wife had been in a car accident and he was going to loose his job if he didn't return, etc), CX news. The rest I hardly bother with it much such as the 24 hours in........(Perth for this copy), the various ad pages etc. I've been in the same browsing & skimming mode for the last couple of magazines as the articles about destinations, golfing, etc doesn't peak my interest that much and I rely on other sources for those information when I need them.

So do most of you just focus on the pages discussing about the company or do you read through all or most of the articles?

I read none of it. Wish they'd save the paper and not send it to me.. or do an online version instead.

You can download the pdf version from the CX website. I don't know if there is an option to tell CX to stop mailing the magazine.

I actually don't mind the magazine, and find it 50% interesting, which is more than I can say for most promotional magazines. I always say to myself, I wish I could file such and such away in case I visit there someday, but of course I never do, and then I never experience the little tidbits of info that I thought I should have.

Now if only they could improve the Discovery inflight magazine.

I looked and failed to find an option to cancel the print version - it's a gross waste of resources in my view, particularly since they also send a copy to my wife.

I guess I'm the odd one here. I always read every single page and have filed all the copies since I joined the club in 2000, both electronically and in paper!

As an aside from next month they will no longer send the mileage statement by post.

In November, I received my statement and Club Magazine by mail. Last week, my wife received the Club Magazine by mail, but there was no statement.

I spent about 10 minutes reading the first copy, but not a single second on the second copy.:D

I really don't mind the magazine, what i find very uneventful is the "local club update" for me its Taipei.. and on the first page its about the CX website and notiFLYMessaging, blah blah.. monthly saver etc. I figured I'm getting this i probably know all there is to know about the website even if i don't buy my ticket on my own. And thats all of pg1 (half of it is a screenshot of the webiste).. The second page is a very uneventful Horse-racing at the Wing promotion which IMHO not many people are willing to spend their $$ or miles on that 'box'
I don't see a point in making such update flyers if they are just no good info. I'd rather they send out info about exclusive events either for Gold or DM members like wine tasting, or the type.. or even getting signed up for the discussion group.

Exactly my experience as well. :)

I do enjoy the anecdotes / accounts in the Inside CX section.
