We are looking at flying from MNL-CDG on either Etihad or Qatar in J. Which would you choose? FFP's are not relevant; purely seat, service and food. Thanks.

BiziBB Dec 9, 08, 12:36 pm Hi riced, don't forget the other factors: Layover time (plus convenience of schedules) What to do in the lounge in transit (food & beverage, showers, lounges, relaxation options) Specific aircraft differences and the corresponding seats Horror stories and how to not become one How the terminals are a zoo and the on-the-ground service experience Search each of the airlines in this forum to get an idea of their relative perks and relative strengths and weaknesses. Check these for your route, remembering that not all aircraft and routes are equal. I really enjoyed the trip recently on QR via SIN to DOH and just need to post more in the trip report. There may be a difference: see if you can find anything in the Trip Reports index for your routes. Remember that AUH is getting very busy, though it also has the new C (J) lounge. Check if the impressions are good there. I'd go Etihad for a number of reasons but they are not relevant in your case, mainly because I'd like to try some of their new longhauls. Also, check seat info on flatseats.com or one of the many other sites. There may or may not be tips on the best choice seats. Best of luck and don't be shy and PM if I can help. Cheers, BB UncleDude Dec 9, 08, 12:48 pm Seat.. Etihad its 180 Narrow Lie Flat : Qatar is only 160 but wider : Service and Food on Qatar are better plus Fantastic Transit Lounge in DOH http://www.qatarairways.com/global/en/premium-terminal.html http://www.qatarairways.com/global/en/business-class.html Both have First Class on Middle East-CDG sector so nobody is Superior Businesswise on that sector...Also believe Qatar Connection and flight times MNL-CDG are much better. riced Dec 11, 08, 12:24 am I am leaning towards Etihad given that they are about $600 cheaper. The only problem is that the flight from MNL has been retimed to leave at 0100.:( I also like the limo service at CDG. I couldn't see anything about Qatar having a limo service for business class. Do either airline offer last minute paid upgrades from J-F for the CDG segment at a reasonable price? |
