Hi guys
Coming from the BA dark side! Just wondering what aircraft is used on the Penang route, it shows as 777 300, does this have any IFE? What is the seating in Y and J like? and does it have F? Many thanks for your help, fbf
all cathay pacific flights have ife with PTV. you can check the entertainment section of cathay to search for IFE available from HKG to PEN.
HKG's service to PEN is either non stop (flies from HKG to PEN only on Monday, Wed, Thurs, Sat, and PEN to HKG only on Tuesday, Thurs, Fri, Sun). The type of aircraft varies on the direct flight, depending on load. (Does anyone know the more common ones used?)
HKG's other option is 1 stop via Kuala Lumpur. That's the flight with the 773. Two classes only.
None of these flights have the new CX products FYI. (Actually according to frankyguy you might get lucky and end up on a new product)
Whether the nonstop or 1-stop flight from HKG to PEN is available depends on the day of the week or something like that.
The 1-stop flight stops at KUL; passengers for KUL get off the plane there, while passengers for PEN stay on the plane. On the ground at KUL, flight attendants will walk through the plane to make sure that all carryon baggage remaining on the plane belongs to a passenger remaining on the plane.

The CX regional product is usually deployed on the KUL/PEN routes although I've had the new 777ER with new long haul product and the A340 with the old long haul product a couple of times. The seating on the regional product in J and Y is OK and has PTV in all seats but not AVOD.
