Hello All,

Not sure if it has been discussed before, a search did not result much about it...

I am looking for a company to port several Toll Free Numbers I currently have.

I use to "host them" with PowerNet Global, however, they went from charging close to nothing, to 5usd per month, per line.

I was looking for another provider to "host them" with, that is cheaper than 5 usd, per month, per line.

I figured that maybe someone here could give me some ideas/suggestions of such places, either a voip company, or anyone else that I could port and begin saving.

My usage is very very low these days, but the numbers are vanity/special to me, so I didn't want to loose it, and the usd 180 a year expense, does not justify keeping it.

Any pointers, much appreciated !!

Happy Holiday Season to all,

I ported my number a couple of times, as each vendor went out of business or stopped handling personal accounts. It's currently with kall8.com, I've been quite happy with them. At the time porting was free, don't know if it still is or not, but currently the rates are $2 a month plus 6.9 cents a minute. The number was a vanity number, they never treated it as that so it was at the lower rates.

I've been with them for several years, no problems at all.

Thanks guys, if anyone else knows others, please let me know.

I hve heard of kall8.com, and right now this is where I am thinking of going... unless I find something even cheaper... (i know i know, something for free is to be doubtful... but.. doesn't hurt to try!)

Vitelity I did not know of, and will look around to decide...

Thanks again,

This is great, really what i had and was looking for to replace it with.

Are you a client? anyone else ever heard of them? I never did and will certainly research them, but it's right up what I was looking for, thanks again

I've had total satisfaction with Opex for many years.

Their toll free service looks like $2 per month and $0.0295 per minute.

My only gripe about them is that there is sometimes some latency on my LD calls. I figure they're probably using VoIP to keep the rates down. The second of delay makes it awkward to hold a fast-paced conversation.

My toll-free numbers don't get a lot of use. I consider this an option to keep them 'parked' for those occasions I need to use them.

to add to this question,

how do you get a tollfree number,

say I wanted to get 1-800-123-4567 or 888 -123-4567

who would I apply to for a specific number?
and what is the cost ? one time or yearly?

I understand hosting it is another cost

thanks

All the providers handle vanity numbers differently.

Some break them into two groups, easy to remember numbers like the ones you listed or true vanity numbers that spell something.

When I got my vanity number (it spells something) it was free. Now places like Kall8 charge $2 setup and $2 month for regular 888/877 numbers.

$5/$5 for 800 and repeater numbers (where there's a pattern in the numbers)

$10/$10 per month for a vanity number you pick if it's available.

Pretty much any of the major vendors can get you any number if it's available, though many vendors have a stock of words they think people want.

I use Americanfone for my personal long distance at home, and they threw in a toll free number tied to the home line for free. Even tho they also provide a calling card (no extra charge), the toll free number makes it nice to be able to call home directly from the road. They charge 4.3 cents/minute. There is a $2 service fee per month, waived if total charges are over $20.

Thanks for the info Kikuchiyo. I think it's nic to have options and I would have gone with Kall8 had not find out from Riverwalk about Pioneer Telephone.

I just signed up for it, and will 0post a review here in a month or so whe I have had them up and running.
