Air New Zealand Air Points - Using Airpoints on Lufthansa

Hi,

I have an upcoming flight from SEA-FRA-DEL and would like to use the airpoints I've accumulated to upgrade from Economy to Business class on the Lufthansa flight. However, the folks at Airpoints told me to contact Lufthansa about redeeming points and Lufthansa threw it right back.

Has anyone else tried claiming points through Lufthansa and if so, how do I go about this ?

Using the across alliance upgrade option you will need to deal with Airpoints since only they have access to your account to support the upgrade request.

Here are the details; But note you must have a fairly unrestricted booking class such as Y or B and may be why NZ suggested you speak to LH?

Thanks for the information. On my E-Ticket, the Fare basis starts with WKG so I'll assume it means my fare class is W. I'll try upgrading from the below link and see how I get along. Thanks again for the help...

If your booking class is W there is zero chance of using NZ airpoints dollars to upgrade on a Lufthansa flight. You need booking class Y or B, as Koru Flyer points out, and these are very expensive fares.
