Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Help with CX routing and fares with free stopover

Last time I found a great fare in May 2008 for 1099 including taxes from JFK (Plane change in HKG) --> TPE --> HKG --> JFK. I was wondering if it was possible to replicate this.

Not Quite a MR but a hell of a trip to plan No where as nearly massive as my last trip 10 destinations in 30 days. I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to when to travel/book and the booking rules associated with any great fares. Me and a friend are planning a vacation to Asia to visit our friends and take a break from work. It would be great if anyone could suggest a routing. SZX -- PVG roundtrip will be booked through ctrip.com as horrible of an experience I had with them last time, it'll be worth it.

Potential Routings

JFK --> TPE --> PVG --> HKG --> JFK
JFK --> TPE --> HKG --> SZX/PVG --> HKG --> JFK
JFK --> TPE --> HKG --> SZX/PVG --> HKG --> JFK

JFK --> HKG --> SZX/PVG --> HKG --> TPE --> JFK

Potential Pros/Cons
HKG = LKF (Less friends than PVG but more than TPE)
TPE = Free Housing (But may get boring)
PVG = Cheap and where the bulk of our friends will be

I am seeing a 916$ fare on CO from NYC to HKG but I really really prefer CX especially if they can give us a free stopover in taipei.

Why don't you buy an All Asia Pass?
You can pick TPE and PVG as the 2 cities in Asia.
