Hi All,

As a result of a promo earlier this year I received a lounge pass for BMI valid until the 31st of December 2008. The pass is a piece of cardboard and says;

"BMI is pleased to invite you and a guest to use our bmi business and diamond club lounges so you can relax, unwind or catch up on some work before your flight"

Terms and conditions are (my bold);
a. This voucher entitles one bmi passenger plus guest one time entry to a bmi lounge.
b. This voucher can be used to enter bmi lounges in Belfast City, Dublin, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Heathrow terminal 1.... and Manchester Terminal 3

Now... do I need to be travelling on a bmi flight to use this pass, or is it a case of YMMV, or can I use it anytime? I guess I'm looking for some experience on this - I think the pass is just a standard version?

The reason I ask is that I'm BMI silver (will be gold, but that is taking a while on domestic flights!) and have a trip to IST (via ZRH) on the 31st of December in Y, but it is with Swiss airlines. As I get free lounge access whilst flying with BMI this would be my only chance to try and use the voucher - but I was wondering whether I would be able to use it to make the start of my holiday slightly more enjoyable, or am I liable to be embarrassed with my wife if I try and chance it :D?

tia,
lv

So you'll be a Swiss passenger, not a bmi passenger. Hence the answer is.......

My reading of the T&Cs is that it is meant for bmi passengers only.

Besides, your itinerary doesn't take you anywhere near a bmi lounge - Swiss departs from Terminal 2 at LHR.

Hi ajamieson,

Thanks for your answer, I hadn't thought about swiss not even leaving from the same terminal!

And FlyingOnceMore, thanks for your sarcasm ;) made me chuckle

You'll be in ternminal 2 (lucky you!) so not really relevant, but I used one of these a couple of weeks ago, they did not check my boarding pass but did ask which flight I was on. I suppose they might have checked my name against the passenger list after I entered but probably not...

Don't forget T1 & T2 are linked airside so if you did have access to the bmi lounges you could access them from T2. This is what Priority Pass members have to do since their lounge closed in T2 at the end of last year.

But as someone else pointed out the pass doesn't allow you into the lounge anyway.
