Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - HKG-DXB CX 685 vs CX 751
Can the CX flyers enlighten me why a CX 685 on 06/15 leaving HKG at 15:40 would arrive DXB at 21:40, when a CX 751 on 06/13 leaving HKG at 14:15 would arrive at 22:00, leaving earlier but arriving later?
Also on 06/12, the same CX 685 flight number would leave at 10:05 in the morning and arriving at 16:15 in the afternoon, apparently shorter flight than the above 2?
They are supposedly direct flights, i.e. do not stop at BKK. Or it is a "thru" flight, but still make a pit stop at BKK?

CX751 is direct, but there are two stops in BKK and BOM.
CX658 is direct, but there is one stop in BOM.
A direct is not a non-stop. In a nonstop, the plane goes up in HKG and down in DXB. In a direct, the plane can go up and down any number of times in any number of places, but it retains the same flight number throughout the journey.

CX flies Dubai with CX 685 on Mondays, Tuesday, and Friday. Monday (applies to jun 15) and Tuesday's flight time is 10 hrs, with 1 stop at BOM (Mumbai), and departs HKG at 15:40, and arrives at 21:40. Friday's flight time (applies to jun 12) is 10 hrs, 10 mins with 1 stop at BOM as well. It departs 10:05, and arrives 16:15.
CX 751 flies Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday (applies to Jun 13), Sunday. They all depart at 14:15, and arrive at 22:00, and makes 2 stops (BKK and BOM), therefore making the flight time 11hrs 45mins.
If you want a direct non-stop flight, CX flies Dubai twice daily non-stop (CX 731, CX 745), once at 16:25, and once at 23:55 respectively. The flights are approx 8 hrs and 30 mins.
hope this helps you.
anyone correct me if i'm wrong! thanks!
Unfortunately, the only flights that have OneWorld business award seats are the 2 that make stops at BKK & BOM. Obviously CX can sell all they want on the non-stop flights especially in light of the recent events, they have no intention to release award seats on the non-stop flights.
Oh well, no shortcut to ATH then. I was hoping to route it HKG-DXB-AMM-ATH. If the HKG-DXB is not a nonstop flight, then forget about it.

I often take the non-stop flights from HKG-DXB in paid business, and they're difficult to find paid seats on, nevermind award seats. The HKG-BOM-DXB flight is (or was recently) opreated by a 747, if that matters to you.

If you don't want to actually stop in DXB, then don't forget about the RJ option to AMM
Is CX still going to make a stopover in BKK for CX 750 DEC 4 2008 DXB-BOM-BKK-HKG with the current political situation in Thailand or they drop that stop and the flight goes DXB-BOM-HKG ?

i believe that you will have to call cathay to confirm. however, if the airport is still not open by dec 4, the flight will most likely fly direct to BOM. however, that's just my understanding and you will have to call cathay to confirm.

AFAIK, a direct flight can be nonstop or x# of stops as long as the latter operates as a "same plane" service from it's first commencement point to it's final termination point. Or are you trying to convey a different meaning here? I ask because it would sound funny to me if a nonstop is considered not direct.

I want to stop at DXB, just dont want to have 2 stops enroute, BKK & BOM.
I actually wanted to do HKG-DXB-AMM-ATH.
RJ award seats are nowhere to be found last time I check.
