for those of you convinced this is the 'One' and are tempted by current deals, beware that a potentially much more useful model is on its way.

10-inch Acer Aspire One due Q1, 2009 (http://techblips.dailyradar.com/story/10_inch_acer_aspire_one_coming_q1_2009/) according to SlashGear:
Acer will launch a 10-inch version of the Aspire One netbook in February or March 2009, according to Acer Taiwan president Scott Lin. While Lin kept quiet on specifications for the larger Aspire, it will presumably offer the same Intel Atom ...

Funny!
(Asus should have five or six models out by then :D)

Well, I bought one for my wife last night and I don't think I'll bother canceling the order. The extra inch would be nice, but with the same battery that means shorter battery life. Plus, she doesn't really want to wait.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry8700c: BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.190 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/120)

This is the standard PC story - wait a bit because a newer better model is due soon :)

Indeed. There is ALWAYS a new one on the way.

I like the Dell Mini Inspiron. Thinking about getting that right after my iPod Touch.

Talking about Asus, just made up my mind after trying the different offerings. Settled on the Asus EEE 1000H. Much better than any of the 9" laptops as the extra 1" actually does make a difference at these tiny sizes.

Also, much easier to replace the SODIMM and HDD.

Isn't one of these manufacturers coming out with a TABLET mini in the next few months? I seem to remember a "tablet netbook" in some article for a spring 2009 release.

UPDATE: Yes, here it is:

Except that the 1000H you want is now superseded by the 1000HA.
It seems to be a very nice upgrade - a prettier look and a diet - plus a supposedly more efficient battery.

If only I could find them downunder.

At least with Asus there is NO doubt - whatever you buy WILL be superseded in a matter of months. ;)

Actually, I did buy the HA. Made a last minute decision. The extra $$ for Wireless N and BT just wasn't worth it.

Yeah, it'll be updated in a few months, but so will everyone else's. :D
