Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - What can I ask for on a flight?

In a HKG-SFO flight a few days ago, I was in Y. The gentleman across from me asked for champagne and roasted nuts. He later asked for volka. I don't think these are supposed to be offered in Y. Anyway, the FAs did provide him, but seemed to be with great reluctance. He seemed to be at least an OW SA/EM or a MPC GO/DM as he was also greeted by the FP.
I know he (or I) can ask for some items not normally offered in our own cabin. Occasionally I am offered something from the front cabins by the ISMs when I am traveling in Y/J - noodle soup, smoked salmon, and even caviar. Being offered is fine, but what is a reasonable limit to ask?

When I was GO flying HKG-LHR in Y, I had a gentleman next to me who had the ISM bring him champagne and chatted with him for over half an hour. I think he's DM because he has the two seats next to him blocked and it was quite a full flight.

Standard spirits are available in Y - Chivas Regal 12 years old, Johnnie Walker Black Label, Cognac, Vodka, Gin, Rum, Sweet/Dry sherry, Campari. Plus red and white wine. Packet peanuts are available.
Champagne is only for J & F in general, but I've been offered it (in a Y-class plastic mug) as a DM in Y. I wouldn't in general try to get F food brought back to Y - that seems wrong to me.
When I travel on CX, i general request (if desired) somethin from the cabin above so in Y I would ask for J desert (a sweets fan !) or in J, i would ask for the Salmon & Cavier.
I dont gerenerally ask for the PJs or amenity kids, just because i have heard they arent given willingly so i try not to make a request that seems un-reasonable.....
I guess it's all about personal preference.....but of course alot depends on the ISM and their mood...I once had a great flight in Y where the ISM really treated me better then being a J pax. Bringing me coffee, J deserts even my meal she offered me the J options choice.....
If all ISM's were that nice, i definately wouldn't mind being in Y ...... :P

Last time when I was on a flight from YYZ-HKG in Y, I was greeted by the ISM and she offered me a J amenity kit. She also made sure the FAs knows my name and write down my meal preference, including my choice of beverage ahead of time.

I only ask for a bottle of water on longhaul flight :o
Why?
as i said...if desired !! ....not on all and every flight...but just if i feel like, i limit myself to something from one class above....it's a personal desire and feel that the request is not too much if asked.

Is it common to get caviar as a DM in J? I've never asked but just curious if this is something that you get often or once or twice? Have they ever said no?

As a rule of thumb I try not to ask for sexual favours when flying in Biz class as if they do it for one they have to do it for all and there are just too many people in Biz.

Ha Ha....not.

Request not to be quoted here, but i would say you can get it 4 out of 5 times requested. You only get turned down if 1st class is 9/9 (FULL).
CX are good that way, they know that it's not going to change your flying pattern if they say no, but it's just that effort they take to please you, that keeps you satisfied.

Nice one.....

As a DM, sometimes one can also "request" the crew to "give" to someone in the back. Last year GF and I (both of us DMs) were in F while her cousin sat in coach. After the first meal, we requested the SP if one of the desert that appeared on our "F" menu can be delivered to a relative of ours sitting in Y. A request that was granted after she checked with the ISM. Of course the crews are not in any way required to comply with such requests. Just a nice gesture on behalf of our crews to do the "extras" for us DMs. ;) And certainly whether such things are granted or not depends also depends on the quality of the crew team.

Sorry to ask for confirmation. CX serves Chivas regal and JW Black in Y?
Wow! This si the kind of stuff served in F on AF.
I remember the days when after the Y service, CX flight attendants would hand out a small box of chocolates and walk down the aisles with a bottle of XO offering to pour to everyone, like they do with the tea & coffee.

For what people are paying, AF should serve Blue Label, not Black Label, in F.
On one long-haul flight on Y, the ISM brought the white duvet from J with her. She came to me and chatted for a few minutes and walked back to the J section with the duvet. She did not stop by anyone else. It was strange. I had all three seats to the window by myself. I was wondering whether she actually was thinking about asking me if I wanted the duvet. I did not ask as I did not need it.
