Not allowing any refunds or cancellations. Just rebooking fee waivers if you arrange before flying with rather restrictive conditions:

a. Cancellation / Refund --
No waiver on cancellation or refund charges.

b. Rerouting / Rebooking --
Rerouting / Rebooking charges will be waived on conditions that:

*
Such requests are made [/b]on/before 03 December 2008 and before departure, for travel involving Bangkok between 26 November and 03 December 2008. Passenger who does not show up is not eligible for the waiver.[/b]
*
Subject to flight availability, revised (new) travel date must be within 1 week from original booking date. The ticket expiry date will therefore be adjusted accordingly.
*
The newly rebooked sector must observe and conform to the conditions of the respective fare rule, such as black out dates, flight application, weekend/weekday travel, stopover charges, and applicable seasonalities.
*
Re-issuance charges will only be waived in reference to the expiry date of the original ticket.

BA and QF are offering refunds without penalty. Not sure what AY and JL are offering (latter is offering apologies).

TG are being reasonable
THAI will waive all cancellations and amendment fees for passengers changing travel plans as a result of the airport closure and departing up until Monday, 1st December 2008. All airfares requested for refund action are to be submitted by 12 December, 2008.

OneWorld carriers seem to be consistent in this regard. Finally able to get rerouting assistance from AA with persistence and a lot of drama. Really shouldn't have to play the customer service lottery in these types of situations.

Another instance where UA seems to hold a small edge in customer service in the Asian markets.

It was the same case with the Bali bombings some years ago. I had a ticket to bali and after the bombing, changed it for another route. Correct there was no refund option, but they did re-route anywhere in asia at no additional cost. So i guess they are consistent in their offers during such times....

To be fair, my understanding is that these rules apply to people declining to travel on flights that fly. If the flights are cancelled then that's an involuntary reroute/cancellation and different rules apply.

CX could have made the rules more clear. My sister's flight today (28th) is cancelled but they still can potentially use the return portion. They had difficulty getting SYD ticketing staff yesterday to enter into the reservation record that they could not fly.

CX has at least extended the booking period from 1 week to 2 now.

I am suppose to fly CX in 2 days from HKG to DXB and the plane suppose to make a stopover in BKK and Mumbai. What will happen in that situation with the closure of BKK airport ? Is CX will fly direct to DXB and drop the stop in BKK or they will cancel the flight ?

As shown on CX Flight Status, CX 751 Fly Direct to Mumbai and continue to Dubai on 29 Nov and 30 Nov, other dates are too far to be known

So ... you probabaly will have a brief stop at the "not-that-safe-zone"

I have a CX award tkt leaving BKK Dec 23,2008 and chose a return portion for sometime in June 2009. What about award tkts? I may have to cancel as no one is sure how long the situation in BKK is going to drag on.

Read the bottom portion of this:

Apart from what is mentioned, other award tickets will be dealt with as per normal changes to award tickets.
