Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Diamond

Hi,

When in CX Marco Polo Diamond I see you need 120k miles per year in order to renew your diamond status.
Does this mean that after one membership year if you have >120k in your account you will continue Diamond status, or do you have to earn another 120k.

Hope you understand.

Thanks@:-)

I am not sure that I understand you correctly. If you do a search on "membership" "reset", you can find the answers.

In short, Club Miles and Membership Year will be reset every time you get to a new year. You have to work your way through Silver and Gold to Diamond. The minimum total Club Miles to get to Diamond is 210K. When you attain Diamond, your membership year is reset and you have to get 120K in the new membership year to renew Diamond.

Basically as a basic Green member, you need to earn 30K qualifying miles to get SILVER. At which time, your membership resets to zero (but not your award miles), and you need to get another 30K to requalify for SILVER status. Once you get that 30K, you only need another 30K to get to GOLD status. Then your counter resets to Zero again.

From there, you would need 120K to get to Diamond. And you need 120K every year to requalify.

A little clarification - at the Silver level, the other 30K to get to Gold and the 30K to retain Silver must be within the same membership year.

Here is the flow:

1. Join MPC - Start membership year -> 2.

2. Green:
* 30K Club Miles/20 Club Sectors within membership year - Get to Silver. Reset membership year -> 3, else;
* 4 Club Sectors within membership year - renew Green at end of membership year for another membership year, else;
* May lose MPC membership (although I am not sure whether it is enforced).

3. Silver:
* 60K Club Miles/40 Club Sectors within membership year - Get to Gold. Reset membership year -> 4, else;
* 30K Club Miles/20 Club Sectors within membership year - renew Silver at end of membership year for another membership year, else;
* Back to Green at end of membership year for another membership year -> 2.

4. Gold:
* 120K Club Miles/80 Club Sectors within membership year - Get to Diamond. Reset membership year -> 5, else;
* 60K Club Miles/40 Club Sectors within membership year - renew Gold at end of membership year for another membership year, else;
* 30K Club Miles/20 Club Sectors within membership year - back to Silver at end of membership year for another membership year -> 3, else;
* Back to Green at end of membership year for another membership year -> 2.

5. Diamond:
* 120K Club Miles/80 Club Sectors within membership year - renew Diamond at end of membership year for another membership year, else;
* 60K Club Miles/40 Club Sectors within membership year - back to Gold at end of membership year for another membership year -> 4, else;
* 30K Club Miles/20 Club Sectors within membership year - back to Silver at end of membership year for another membership year -> 3, else;
* Back to Green at end of membership year for another membership year -> 2.

Can we stick this somewhere permanently? Possibly the most informative to date, and it might stop the 2-3x monthly threads about this topic

I'll try to sort of put up a CX FAQ on a sticky soon.

5. Diamond:
* 120K Club Miles/80 Club Sectors within membership year - renew Diamond at end of membership year for another membership year, else;
So if say one gets 120K club miles seven months early during his/her Diamond year, does he/she requalify for Diamond immediately and club miles reset to zero or does one still have to wait at the end of the 12 months of the membership year to requalify for diamond?

As it says in the text you quoted - they wait until the end of the year to renew your membership for a further 12 months, but clearly such renewal is certain from the point you reach 120K miles.

As mentioned by christep, you will requalify DM when you reach 120K, but your status will be renewed at the end of the membership year.

However, while not in the rules, a DM can call MPC to reset membership year and Club Miles/Sectors once qualified.
