Travel Technology - Wireless printing... alternative to router?

So I was given a new printer as a gift (this one (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&cc=us&product=1119598&dlc=en&).) One of its capabilities is wireless printing. The thing is, the only logical place for the printer is upstairs, and my modem and router are downstairs. Is there any alternative for wireless printing to plugging the printer into a router, e.g., some sort of box that extends the router's capabilities in a different room? The wifi signal is fine upstairs.

Thanks for any help -- I'm pretty good at a lot of computer stuff, but I'm basically an ignoramus at all but the most basic networking.

You could buy a wireless ethernet bridge like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WET54G-Wireless-G-Ethernet-Bridge/dp/B00008WMBT/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227203558&sr=8-1

That printer does not do wireless printing - it does network printing via ethernet.

Or you could buy a wireless print server, but I think the bridge is a better option.

If the wireless signal reaches the office where you have the printer you shouldn't need any additional hardware. That's the whole point of having the wireless capabilities built in to the printer. ;)

There are some instructions here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?rule=459&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1119598) on how to configure the wireless networking on the printer to allow for printing without any connections.

It's not a wireless printer. I looked at the specs on HP's website. Ethernet or USB.

Right, sorry. It looks like that HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit will do the trick, though.

Thanks!

Oops...I saw the instructions and missed the part where it was an add-on part to get that functionality. :o

or you could pickup some homeplugs for about 40$ a pair and put the printer upstairs.

Wireless print servers are available from many vendors for $25 or so.

Don't pay HP $70 (after the $30 savings) for their kit, just get one of the others out there.
