I did a search but couldn't find a thread on this new hotel. Good to have SPG hotel in Prague and I really enjoyed my stay here last week. The staff was excellent, from doorman to check-in, concierge and people in club lounge. Nice suites, nice club lounge with good snacks and breakfast.

When you have sufficient time, I am sure others would appreciate it if you could expand upon your review, re hotel location, room furnishings and amenities and hotel's club lounge.

Thanks.

Thanks, didn't see the previous thread.

Here some more info:

I think the location is fine, much better for me than for example the Hilton, although it may depend which companies you visit or work for. It is 5 min walking to the centre, old town etc. For me it is perfect location and only had to take taxi once.

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=3268

The entrance is not grand, but the lobby is nice. Area with 4-5 apple desktop pc's, TV, plenty seats. Check-in is at one of two desks with each two seats where you sit for check-in. One desk has gold/plat sign. Everyone very helpful and friendly, probably partly because just open but felt genuine and nice people. Swift check in. Brought to my room. Partly because it is indeed combination of older buildings (not old by European standards, but not new-build). So some stairs, corridors, elevators and guess they want to ensure you find your room quickly.

Room was good, all brand-new. Nice living area with sofa, chairs, 42" plasma, desk and a smart partition wall with bed area, with a 32" tv. Wardrobe in seperate area with another small desk. Big bathroom. Nice. Seperate big shower. Seperate toilet. All brand new, roomy, and comfortable. This was a suite. Mini-bar, which I think was complimentary.

Clubroom is nice, friendly staff, stairs down to sitting area with newspapers, pc's, and then another room where you can sit at tables. Afternoon there were nice warm snacks and drinks. Morning there was breakfast with some warm options as well. Good.

I also hired a meeting room and this was good. Again, all brand new which makes a big difference. Refreshments, fruit, and espresso machine. My room actually also had the espresso machine. Staff very helpful and doing all they can.

Regarding the location I am sure others know Prague better, but 5-15 min walk I was everywhere.

Overally a good stay and I will certainly stay here now when in Prague. Staff really friendly.

Any question let me know.

Thanks JPLondon. I haven't seen any feedback on the Sheraton in Prague, and your report helps to know that the hotel is up and running well.

I was taking the leap of faith anyway based on my minor obsession with status and points, but knowing that they have good and friendly staff is always a plus that can smooth out the other problems.

I will be staying at the beginning of April and will add my $0.02.

First time post here, but have been lurking for a while and appreciate all the tips posted here.

We just returned from a 4-night stay at the Sheraton Prague, and I have to agree with JPLONDON's assessment of the hotel. It was formerly another hotel, and the complex extends from the atrium lobby into four other buildings. The decor is modern and lobby furniture is comfortable. We noticed a fashion shoot taking place in the bar one morning.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The lobby computer station made checking e-mail a breeze, and the staff even gave us a login to use after we checked out so that we could check our departure plans later in the day.

Our room was comfortable and large, with a separate work area, a very large bathroom and the Sweet Sleeper bed. Unfortunately our second floor "courtyard view" was of the atrium roof, and no SPG Gold upgrade was possible. We booked the Opening Offer rate which included breakfast for two. This was a hot and cold buffet with tons of options including omelette station, pastries, and cold cuts.

There is a fitness center in the basement, but we didn't check it out as we were out walking the Old Town most days. The hotel is under 10 minutes walk into the Old Town Square and five minutes from Wenceslas Square, so we had no problems getting right into the thick of the tourist sections, but we also felt able to retreat from all the bustle when we desired.

Recently stayed in the new Sheraton Prague. I had pre-ordered a transfer. The chauffeur was waiting for me when I arrived and in a minute we drove away in a Mercedes limousine. The chauffeur had worked as a guide and he was so friendly give me a short sightseeing tour of Prague.

Check-in was friendly and efficient. I was upgraded to a Premium suite on the 7th floor. Howerver, I had made reservations for a Grand deluxe room via the hotelsite, but they told me this room did not exist!
I asked if I could see the Clublounge.
The Bellboy tried to show the lounge to me, but the key did not function and we had to go back to the reception. This time te key did not work either and before I could say anything, the Bellboy ran away while telling me he would get another key.
I think I had to wait for 15 minutes before he returned, I was not pleased and wanted to go to my room.

Well finally he showed me the lounge. My first impression was: smallish and not spacious or luxurious. The dining room for breakfast was even more small, I would not like to have breakfast here!

After this visit we went to my room. The corridors of the hotel are of stone and walking through those corridors did not give me a pleasant feeling. No warm details whatsoever.

We first went to the 6th floor. I noticed no information in the elevator concerning where to find the restaurant, fitness etc. For the 7th floor we had to climb a small stair. The suite was in the attic of the hotel. The suite was however very nice, modern warm colours , luxurious interiors, two bathrooms, an Illy espresso machine. The suite had a large terrace, which was reached with a small stair. However, no chair were available to have a sit on this nice terrace.

The Sheraton Sweet Sleeper, Kingbed was super. Since it was new, it was very comfortable. Since the bed was so large, no chair could fit into the sleepingroom.

The bathtub was large, and the waterpressure was good. So no need to wait long before the bathtub was full with water. I spend some relaxing moments here. The quality of the bath amenities were fine, I enjoyed my baths. The relaxing bath experience could be even better when it would be possible to listen to some music.

I was happy with this suite at first. However, no tv was placed in the living room, so I was forced to look tv in the bedroom. I did ask the reception if a tv could be placed in the livingroom. They told me they agreed there should be a tv in the living room, but nothing happened.
The beautiful Illy espresso machine did not function properly, only three times I could have a decent espresso. The hotel gave me a coffee and tea machine, so I could make some tea.
Since the suite was in the attic and on the southside, from morning to evening the sun was shining in the suite. I did ask a chair for the terrace and the lady of the reception arranged one for me.

The suite itself became very hot when the sun was shining. I had to close the curtains all day and it did not give me a nice feeling. Even with the airco on, it was sometimes too hot.

I could not find any information in the room, no hotel directory was available. So when I wanted to see the fitnessroom and Spa I just had to find out myself. No help of the housekeeping, they do not speak English. No information in the elevator, so I pressed floor -1. Well, this appeared to be wrong and I had to back.
Finally it appeared it was on receptionlevel, and on the backside. I found a tiny SPA. Not worth to mention it as a Sheraton Spa. The fitnessroom was small, but ok, with technogym machines. The relax area was small. If I wanted to use the sauna, I had to request for it so the hotel would turn it on.
The lady of the Spa was very friendly and gave sufficient information.
I have never seen a socalled Spa like this, and Sheraton should be ashamed of itself they would call this a Spa…..

After visiting Prague I visited the restaurant of the Sheraton. It was not busy and I did not need to wear a jacket. The restaurant was small and darkish. No nice interior. The lighting was very bad, too dark. When they put on a light so I could read the menu the light was too bright. Only five guests were having dinner, one party of 3 people and one of two.
The menu was rather limited. I ordered a mango salad as a starter. Hardy any dressing was on this salad, so hardly any taste. After this I ordered veal with risotto. I told the waiter I wanted to have it medium. After some waiting I had my dinner. When I started to eat, I noticed the meat was well done. Not taste, only dry “dead’meat. The risotto did not taste either. I had to call four time the waiter. The two waiters had only eye for the American guests who seem to order a lot of dishes. When she finally came she was looking strangely at me when I told her I did not order well done meat. She agreed with me I could have a new dish.
After waiting for 15-20 minutes I had my new plate. Indeed this dinner was tasty, and was much better than my first plate. This time she came back to ask if everything was all right and apologised for the mistake.
She even did her best to get me a cheesecake as a dessert. So, that was really nice.
I had to pay more than 50 euro for this dinner. It was not worth to pay so much in my opinion. I did not like the ambiance, the lighting, the interior of the restaurant, the view from the restaurant is also very uninteresting, the quality of the food is low, the service is not up to Sheraton standards.

On the last day I wanted to have breakfast in my room. Only, no information in the room or on the telephone how to call roomservice. No option to dial a guest service number! I did not like this experience.
When the housekeeping knocked on my door, I tried to make them clear I wanted to order a breakfast. At first they did not understand me, finally she went away and came back with another girl, who did not speak English either. Only she did understand what I wanted and she called the reception. So, via via I did receive my breakfast.
I had to pay 24 euro for this breakfast, with a very tiny pot of very good coffee ( only 1, 5 cup), and cranberry lemonade instead of cranberry juice as was mentioned on the telephone. The quality of ham and cheese selection was perfect. The arrangements on the tray were very professional.

The concierge of the hotel is tucked away in a very claustrophobic small desk! I have never seen such a small concierge desk in my life. The service of the concierge is however very professional. They helped me well when making a reservation for a restaurant, and did find out the restaurant we were going to did not exist anymore.

The location of the hotel is not very near the Charles Square, as the name of the hotel suggests. It is still 10-15 minutes walking. I was not impressed by the location, in general Starwood hotels have a prime location. On one side in the street of the hotel was the New Townhall. But if you walked into the opposite direction of the street you will see many Porn/sex shops and cinema’s.

Will I go back? Nope, never. I did not feel being in a Sheraton hotel, or Starwood hotel. Everything was so cramped and not luxurious at all. Everything was packed together on the ground floor. When entering this Sheraton I did not have a luxurious feeling, not at all. No good ambiance, no impressing entrance or lobby or reception area. The lobby is small, and next to it is the Sheraton Link, next to this is the bar and next to the bar is the restaurant……On the other side is the reception area…. breath in ….and breath out….. it getting too cramped here. I like some open space here please!

Finally I do have to say most of the personnel is very friendly and helpful. However I have seen personnel at the reception who did not show respect to their guest. Perhaps because she was too young, of perhaps he had to learn how to treat guest when working for a Starwood hotel.

We loved the Hilton Old Town, which is in walking distance of all the sites. As HH gold, we were given free breakfast buffet, including hot items, at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. Too bad to hear Sheraton Prague doesn't have its act together.

Personally, I found the location of the Marriott to be way better than the Hilton.

Hi Couscous,
this is really funny! Even a very similar experience!
Still looking forward to your pictures. I had problems downloading them since I have pics with 5 megapix now.
When I used the 3.2 megapix it was much easier.

Hope to see your pics soon.

You menioned that breakfast cost more than 50 euro's, I thought Prague wasn't on the euro until next year?

Room 713 is a Premium suite, so a small change they will give it on points I guess. The breakfast is 24euro when you order roomservice. Ofcourse the Tsjech Republic is not into the euro yet! But in euros everyone knows how much I had to pay...

Perhaps the situation has been improved when you travel to Prague in July! But be aware Prague is very, very touristic and crowded in the summermonths. this is Highseason. Even now in May, it was very crowded and touristic!

Some pretty disappointing reviews. We're going in a few weeks, I'll update where possible.

You mentioned the hotel was 10-15 minutes walk from Charles Square- the map seems to show them right in Charles Square- did you mean it's a 10-15 minute walk from Old Town Sqaure (which is where all the toursity things are that you'd want to do)?

There is a master thread already for this hotel so maybe the moderator can merge.

I stayed couple days in March/April just after it opened and thought it was really good. Liked the lounge, liked my room a lot, but dont know what sort of suite it was. I did have two massive plasma tv's though, one in living and one in bedroom. Massive bathroom. The hotel is in an old building, so yes the corridors are not all straight, but that gives it a bit more charm than Hilton. I would only stay in Hilton if have meeting next door.

The hotel is Not right in Charles Square, it is located in a busy street, Zitna. To walk to the Old Town Square, astronomical clock etc. will take you more time.

Perhaps in time the hotel will improve. Or perhaps I was not lucky during my stay. Though FT couscous seemed to have a similar experience..

The Hotel is about 50 yards away from Charles Square. It is a 5-10 minute (5 for me) walk to the old town square.

My stay at the Sheraton in early April was a bit hit and miss. I did not post my review because I wanted to give it another shot later this month. The way the minuses read it sounds like I was not happy with the stay, but I am still rooting for them!

The plusses:
*The staff seemes very friendly and helpful
*The concierge was also very helpful
*The room was nice and modern - although a little small.
*The bathroom was big with a nice tub and a great separate standalone shower with the rainwater faucet and good water pressure.
*The lounge was a big perk with breakfast, snacks throughout the day, a coffee/expresso/machiatto machine and a refrigerator full of beer, soda and water
*The lounge for some may be small, but it was relatively empty and I liked it - and the staff members there were great.
*In addition to Sheraton Link, the staff in the lounge gave multiple free 30 minute internet connections for use on the lounge computer as well as my wireless.
*Although not in the thick of the touristy area which it does not promise, it is an easy enough walk to Wenceslav or Old Town Square.
*There is definitely character in the old buildings from which they created the hotel.

The minuses:
The service was friendly and they tried - but they seemed to still be getting there things together because of the opening in March.
*There were some service lapses that I would hope will improve with time: I was told a DVD player would be available and it had not yet been acquired by the hotel, a wakeup call was missed, one day housecleaning did not come and that needed two calls to be rectified, and the adapter plugs they had were ALL broken and when they found out they did not go get ones that worked.
*The SPG aspects did not work well for me:
*I was not upgraded to a Jr. suite even though there was availability each day I checked (and asked the front desk) - I know not an entitlement but left me wondering. Otherwise the regular rooms will offer no view and little light because the building is about 6 floors high.
*the front desk was confused on checkout in the way they were able to get the bill correct - this meant that I did not get points for the prepaid part of my stay and I did not receive night credits for the Q1 award - overall 3,000 points I am without and have been spending my time to try to get back (and still have not).

The Hotel is about 50 yards away from Charles Square. It is a 5-10 minute (5 for me) walk to the old town square.

Wow, you must have walked on "Dorothy's slippers";): in 5 minutes to the old town square! Only if I would run and run .. wearing my Puma sporting shoes I would get in 5 minutes from the hotel to the Charles Square..... Or perhaps I should have clicked my heels as Dorothy did..:D

Furthermore, while I visited the Clublounge no food or snacks were available. Only the coffeemachine.

I have seen many Starwood clublounges around the world but this one striked me as very smallish, uncomfortable. It felt very empty, nobody was here. I did notice a nice terrace, but without chairs.
I guess we can have all our own experiences. I must say I only visited the Clublounge once.

Maybe OP was confusing Staromestske Namesti (Old Town Square) with Karlovo Namesti (Charles Square). The front door to the hotel is indeed about 40m from Karlovo Namesti, which is more like a park than a european-style square.

Staromestske Namesti is about 1km from the hotel, so a 5-10 minute walk would be reasonable for that distance (if you know your way and/or can navigate the warren-like streets).

Vacklavske Namesti (Wencesles Sq.), the more modern, shopping area, is about 400m away.

Karlovo Namesti is a major transportation hub in Prague, with a Metro station and a tram stop serving nine tram lines (3, 4, 6, 10, 14, 16, 18, 22, and 24).

Well, the Staromeske Namesti seemed to be much further away than 5 ! - 10min. Ofcourse I did not know my way and yes it could be hard to navigate the many small streets. when visiting Prague for the first time.

I know, the Old Town area is really disorienting for most people, even people who live there. Many times I have set out for a point, walk for 10 minutes, and realize that I'm only 100m from where I started.

I hope you found the city more enjoyable than the hotel stay. There are always tourists in Prague...more so in the middle of summer, much like Amsterdam in my experience.

10 minutes may be more accurate to the old town square now that I recall. The 5 minutes I was thinking was to the Tesco that is still 200 meters short of the Old Town square through some winding streets - which to me begins the interesting part of the old town if not the square itself.

In addition to the 0800-2300 availability of the coffee machine, fresh fruit and full refrigerator:

There was breakfast in the lounge in the morning - breads (butter/jelly), juice, sliced meats and cheeses, sausage, bacon, potatoes and cooked tomatoes. The same each day. Their was a staff person who offered to take the egg orders.

In the afternoon there were cold appetizers - cakes, and bite sized appetizers. I saw this on 2 or 3 days.

In the evening, there were hot appetizers added to the mix - chicken skewers, some pork and bread combination. I only went once for this,

Just completed my stay, and can not agree with negative statements. I thought this is a great and charming hotel. It is certainly not in line with the 'standards' of a Sheraton, because, as pointed out, it is in an old building. It feels more like one of the Meridiens (Vienna, for example). For me, it had all the advantages of an old building....not being boring standard, with old stairways, high ceilings...something different.

I was upgraded to a great Jr. Suite, very modern and functional, only criticisms being no walk-in shower, and a weirdly mounted TV.

Lounge was small, but nice and modern. Basic but OK food and drinks selection. Better than anything I have seen in a US Sheraton, for example.

Good fitness center and sauna. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Traffic is a bit of an issue here, you are better off using the Metro or walk.

All in all a positive experience. I don't know about other/smaller rooms, but I would certainly go back.

I am happy you liked your stay in the Sheraton Prague and that you were satisfied with the quality and upgrade offered. I guess we all have our own experiences and expectations.

Please do not understand me wrong. I do like Starwood hotels located in historical buildings, like the former Starwood hotel "Hotel Principe di Savoia Milano" in Italy, Starwoods Imperial Hotel and Bristol hotel in Vienna , Westin Valencia, the Alfonso hotel in Seville, etc. Staying in Starwood hotels in Italy, you can indulge yourself in Starwood Grand hotels which are located in historical buildings. And yes I do like them very much.

Regarding the standards I am referring to is the quality of services/rooms and information and the ambiance of public spaces offered. I do not expect OK foods and drinks in a Starwood/Sheraton hotel. If that is the case I would go to anther hotelchain in a lower catergory of hotels with different rates and prices.

Personally I do not like the quality and services of Le Meridien hotels around the world. Except for Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. It is a matter of experiences I guess.

I would not dream of going back to this hotel. It does not offer me the quality and services I expect of a Starwood hotel, based on many experiences in Starwood hotels around the world. I do remember I had a great time in the former Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami, with excellent services and quality offered.

Since most of the reviews were by people who got upgrades, maybe you won't be able to answer this (since you would have had free internet anyway as part of the upgrade), but I was wondering if they had free wi-fi in the Link area for guests.

Just finished our stay and really enjoyed it. We had no issues with the room whatsoever, and the service was impeccable. We ended up with access to the club lounge, which I thought was terrific- the food served there was good, and a nice choice of water, soft drinks, and beer were complimentary.

Location is decent if you're walking, but if you get adventurous like we did towards the end of our stay, you'll realize that the Charles Square tram stop is one of the hubs for all the trams, so you can literally get anywhere the trams service from there, which is huge. I would definitely come back and stay here.

So I just spent five nights at the Prague Sheraton. First off, very nice hotel, very nice decor, very nice staff, and GREAT club lounge. That’s the good.

I used points, and I was traveling on a shoe string budget with my girlfriend. When we checked in the informed of my Plat upgrade to a junior suite which was fabulous by the way but changed rooms (I’ll get to that later), they told me my star point balance which was a first, and asked for a credit card for the room. I knew it was for incidentals but he made it sound like it was for the room cost so I asked, how much will you be putting on the card? He replied with 15000 Czech korunas, or about $830. I said that was ridicules for incidentals and I won't tie that much money up. He said all the services I was going to use had to be paid for like the lounge and the internet and the gym. I said ok, the club lounge is free to platinum’s, the gym is free unless I want to get a massage, the internet is free in lobby using the "Sheraton Link," so what am I paying $833 for? He called the supervisor and got it lowered to $500. I again said no. He then told me I would have no PAY TV and no phone. NO PAY TV? Darn. So hey checked me in with no card and I got no Pay TV. By the way, top gun was under new releases. I wasn't missing much.

The room was great. #206. Large with high ceilings. 2 flat screens, and a huge bathroom with 2 sinks, a big tub and a huge walking shower. I loved it, the nicest room I've ever had second to the mega suite in the W Hollywood. Then it stared at about 11:30pm. I was almost asleep when the bass started to rattle the floor. There’s a dance club in the basement the building next door. It goes to about 4 am with loud techno. I had to switch rooms as I am a soft sleeper. Of course there were only 5 of the rooms I had, and 3 were booked, the other 2 had broken AC. So I got the “other” junior suite, it’s about half the size. I was upset but too tired to ..... at 2 am.

The club lounge was open all day and offered for free all the drinks available in the mini bar, also has little plates of food thought the day. It also had 2 computers with printers.

The gym was small but had everything I needed. I was upset when I found the sauna on the 2nd to last day, but at least I found it. It last very large and there was also a cold pool for when you were done. They did ask that no clothing was worn, just a towel. But there was not a men or women’s sauna, just the one. Not sure that ever gets awkward.

The location was sketchy for me. Kind of far from everything, but it was at least in a cheap area for food and drink. I had 75 cent beers! Just like college. But all in all it was a good hotel. I would go back as long it wasn't room 206.

Why start a new thread when 1 already exists for this Hotel?????

I woukld say $830 for 1 person would have been alot But not for 2 people $160 a day fior 2 people isnt asking much. Im sure alot of people do spend $$ at Hotels and arent like You and Me! (a recent HNL stay at a CY my bill for 2 nights was under $200 the person before me for 2 nights was well over $500 :p, internret, movies, restaurants etc etc, everything I never spend a nickel on, heck they even paid to be Upgraded to the room).

I could understand if it was a 1 night stay. I even get strange looks when I tell them, I want to pay as I go and not charge it to my room, I know I wont get any SPG pts but I need to do it this way. I too get flack, But I never would Rant about it as its an every day occurance at All Hotels.

I'll be in town in Oct for 2 nights but booked myself into the Marriott as its a GREAT location and the Sheraton is just alittle too out for my liking

Well sorry about starting a new thread. But prior to my stay at prague, i was at the sheraton grand in Edinburgh for 4 days, they charged me 50 pounds, and in paris at the Le Meridian after prague for 4 days as well, they charged me nothing, only recorded the number. As for hotel charges, I never eat at hotels or watc movies. too damn expensive. I thought it was wrong to charge that much when the room is already covered.

Just spent a bonus weekend in Prague, and I have to disagree with some of the other posters - I didn't think this hotel had much character at all. Don't get me wrong - it's a nice, modern hotel, and very comfortable, but it certainly didn't have the character of the nice old building feel of some of the other Western European properties. The decor felt a lot like inexpensive boutique hotel "zen" - something I'd expect more in a lower-end property in San Francisco than in a historic old city center like Prague.

I also second the idea that this hotel is pretty far from anywhere you want to go - it is at least ten minutes to the southern bit of the old city center, and the Charles Bridge and Malostranska (with the castle and monastery) are significantly further. The area has some seedy shops nearby, and there aren't many restaurants or even beer gardens near to the hotel.

And though the staff were very friendly and tried their best to be helpful, I definitely found that they were still ironing out some bugs in the service. For example, I asked for a sheet at the front desk, as the bed only came with a comforter and not a top sheet, and it was quite a hot weekend in Prague. The very nice staff at the front desk agreed to send one up to the room - but 20 minutes later, they arrived at the room to apologize and tell us that the hotel actually had no sheets!

After the previous night in the Sheraton Warsaw, last night's stay in the Sheraton Prague was worse than a disappointment.
Check in; Tedious. No check in desk, just two office style desks, making queueing annoying. Check in slow, c 20 mins, with a taxi waiting, as the agent typed his memoires.
Gold upgrade; counterproductive. Given a bare, small room on the first floor with a view of a brick wall. Offered the opportunity to buy lounge access for 40 euros. Agent's magic sales technique was 'you should take it as the breakfast (30 euro) is so expensive'
Room service; returned from team drinks at 1230 ready for a club sandwich. No chance. 5 items on offer after 11.30; Cabbage soup. Microwaved lasagne, 3 other unidentifiable (to me) and unpalletable offerings.
Checkout. As I had no room sevice charges, and had paid for room, the 10 minute wait while the agent continued his memoires was made all the more annoying when I learned the only reason I was sitting there was to settle the account for the voluntary UNICEF donation they had charged to my room.
Customer service, obseqious and vapid. "How was your stay". "Honestly, the worst Starwood hotel I have ever stayed in". No response. Except at the end, if you come back we will give you a nicer room. I will come back, only because this is the only SPG hotel in Prague. When I hit plat in October, all my Prague stays will be Hilton.

This property seems to have reared its ugly head a couple times on these forums in the last few weeks.

Too bad. Prague's been on my bucket list for sometime and of course I would like to stay with *wood.

The lengthy check-in and check-out procedures are unfortunate. As for the lack of an upgrade, it is peak tourist season in Prague at the moment, so perhaps they did not have any "Preferred" rooms to upgrade you to.

I'm curious to see how Plat treatment is at this hotel, as I intend to stay there in a few weeks (and again in January). You say you are on the verge of achieving Plat. If you have not enjoyed SPG Plat before, I think you may be pleasantly surprised at the vastly improved levels of service (including upgrades) you will receive at most SPG properties. The difference in benefits between SPG Gold and Plat is so large that SPG Gold might as well be called "SPG Cardboard," as comparing the two simply isn't fair. In my Experience, it is the best top-tier hotel status when it comes to upgrades.

Did not realize that this property has been the subject of frequent complaints. That is unfortunate.

I was there in March or so, just after opening, and my posting started the master thread on this property. I enjoyed my 2 stays there so far and each time, as a Plat, got a great large room, some level of suite, big living, bedroom, large bathroom, seperate office space. Have never waited for check-in or check-out. Very friendly staff. Only downside I see is the not so grand entrance. Have read some complaints here about people's espresso machine not working, but think this was in the first weeks.

Just back from Prague, using the free weekend reward. I got the upgrade to the regular suite (same as described above,) room 306. Very nice. From another floor up from previous poster's 206, the club noise is barely audible - but it is there on Sat night!

Very nice and helpful staff throughout the property. I had to wait a bit to get into the room (early arrival) and was offered another lesser room or an hour's wait - with the comment that the upgraded rom was worth the wait. I agree. I waited in the lounge, where the staff asked several times if they could get me anything. Lounge was smallish, but comfortable with good selection of food and drink. Not at all in the same league as the Hilton Prague - which may have one of the best lounges in Europe - but more than adequate.

I thought the location was AOK, and better than the Hilton. Everything is in very easy walking distance if you don't mind walking. The street layout in old Prague can be a bit confusing due to the city's age, but a bit of planning ahead with a map makes it pretty painless. I didn't find the area seedy at all - though not de luxe either. I'd go back, and probably will!

My stay here over Labor Day weekend was very pleasant. I didn't have any issues with check-in. It actually was very efficient. I was upgraded to a suite without having to ask, which was also nice. I really like the interior design in this hotel. It is very modern and well-thought-out, and actually reminds me of some of the nicer Le Meridien properties I have stayed in.

The only minor issue I had was that my key-cards kept deactivating during the stay. The front desk had it sorted out fairly quickly each time. I also discovered that the bartender downstairs makes some excellent cocktails. ^

Dunno what the exact suite category was, but it was on the Sixth Floor, near the elevators. Below are some photos.

We are taking the train from Vienna (getting in at 11:30 PM) and staying at the hotel in two weeks. What is the best way to get to the hotel at that hour from the train station using public transporation?

I did not stay at the Sheraton yet, but several companies offer shuttle services downtown ( shared van ride, fixed price, tickets are sold outside customs in the arrival hall )

The one I used dropped you off in front of the Renaissance, which is now the Hilton. Used to be appr. Euro 5-7 per Person.

Several trams will take you to the Charles Square area, but you can also walk, only a few minutes away.
