I will need to transport a group of 8 from AUA to Palm Beach and return to AUA 7 days later. How difficult is it to confirm a car rental to accommodate 8 or a taxi to the hotel and maybe rent at the hotel as needed?

Not difficult at all to rent a van. Now, however, if you rent at the airport there is an "airport fee" added on to the rental. Most places have a rental office on site and it might be cheaper to rent that way especially with all the luggage you'll have - lol!!! - although most people bring way to much stuff. Restaurants are fairly casual with crop pants and top for women and collared shirt (golfish) and nice shorts for men. You will, of course, see people with cutoffs and t-shirts but we don't wear that to dinner.

I rented two years ago for $50/day for a small sedan. If you are going to the hotel and 7 days later back to the airport, I would use taxis.

Fairly small island, I would use a taxi, hire a shuttle, etc. and not rent a car unless you planned to drive a lot. It's very easy to use cabs to get from the Palm Beach area to the city, and back.

I think cabs could be quite expensive for a group of 8. Check out cab prices, etc. at www.visitaruba.com and www.aruba-bb.com Linda

I have been looking at Toyota car rental-their rates are not bad and they have a 9 passenger van.Since we have 7 adults and a child with a car seat,3 sets of golf clubs and the usual suitcases,I am not sure taxis would be practical. We'd probably tour the island just a day or two,but having the van would seem to make things easier.Does anyone have experience with Toyota in Aruba? Our previous trip we used Budget, but that was a disaster.

I just popped on to www.aruba-bb.com and did a search. People said good things about Toyota Car Rental. Linda

I have used toyota for years they are reliable and off a/p site is easy, they will pick you up at airport (5 min trip at longest). I believe new taxi regs in aruba allow at most 4 in a cab. During peak times availability of large vans are tight so get confirmation asap if you are going high season. You can do booking by e-mail
