I have multiple SIM cards (my wife's and mine; two Italy accounts, two U.S. accounts) with different phone books on them.

Years ago I used to use DataPilot software, but my version is way out of date and I don't have cables for my current phones (they don't have mini-USB slots). Any suggestions for how to back up all my sim cards, share phone books between them, etc.; should I get a new version of DataPilot with new cables (which is an expensive solution) or is there a cheaper way?
(note: DataPilot also let me edit the phone books on the PC, which is easier than keying in the numbers; that's a nice feature)

I tried picking up a generic Chinese made USB Sim card reader, but all it does is crash my PC.

Might not be practical for you but I use a bunch of ancient Nokia's to backup SIM's - copy the contacts to the worthless old phone and back in the drawer they go.

If you search on google you'll find many Sim card readers (http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&safe=off&resnum=0&q=sim+card+backup&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title) which you can then use to connect to your pc.

Try ebay (http://www.ebay.com/) or amazon (http://www.amazon.com/).
