I recently obtained a Sony Ericsson phone the W380 that has much worse signal reception than my previous SE phone. This phone was replaced without improvement in the signal so it seems to be a feature. Now you would think that picking up a signal was something that should have become standard years ago but it seems that manufacturers are more interested in playing music etc.

Has anyone seen a review site where reception quality is scientifically tested for different models of GSM phone?

Most review sites prattle on about things which are desirable, but ignore measures of things that are essential.

mobileburn.com and it's editor does excellent reviews. very thorough and addresses reception of phone, etc. It was his review that steered me away from some of the earlier nokia candy bars that came out couple of years ago....

of course he doesn't review every model, just the popular 'hot' ones.
