Travel Technology - Cable Internet strange service dropout

I've been experiencing some strange cable Internet symptoms over the past few weeks. A couple of times a day, I am unable to browse web pages until I reset my modem. It isn't a DNS issue (I can't get to websites using IP addresses and I am able to ping based on domain names), and I am still able to use other Internet services (VoIP, SFTP, VPN, etc.).

It is always resolved by restarting the cable modem.

Any suggestions? My cable company wasn't very helpful.

More information:
When this problem happens, I am unable to navigate to the IP address of my modem.

I had something similar happen recently:

I was running from the cable modem to a wireless/wired router. My desktop used one of the wired ports on the router. Then I broadcast the wireless. I also used another wired port to run a cable to another room where I had a second wireless router (same SSID) set us as a wireless access port.

I would see latency and dropout on the remote wireless. I was also seeing dropout on the wired computer.

In the end, I just replaced the #1 wireless/sired router and all was good.

Not sure if this will help, but it's similar :)

If you can't reach your modem it's your modem or router messing up. Maybe a translation table filling up?? This would preclude any new connections but existing ones would be unaffected.
