Chicago - United-ORD Curbside easycheck-in

With the new luggage fees, is there a way to still check-in the luggage curbside, if the fee is prepaid on the website? (skis, boots, etc)

I see the UA web page says there are curbside check-in services, but are these for luggage drop off, and are these separate and different from the "red-cap" booths?

Anyone else see this as hurting the skycabbies more than anything else? I'm guessing they received tips from 90% of customers previously, but now with the fee, I'm GUESSING their tips have fallen some from customers who (erroneously??) think their $2 is going to the guys manning the cold...
