JAL Mileage Bank - how can I get my original seat assignments back?

Am scheduled to fly JL 10 NRT-ORD Dec. 7 in J with 2 award seats. I made seat assignments 10 months ago. We were in row 9, bulkhead. I was checking my reservation online and saw a notice of an aircraft change. JL changed the aircraft to a 747-400 and gave us new seat assignments, and my DH and I are not sitting together. So I called and the only seats together are row 31. This is not acceptable when I originally had bulkhead row seats. They had left me in row 9 and moved my husband to row 11. I asked them to change someone traveling alone and put DH back into row 9 next to me but said they couln't do that.
How would you suggest I get better seats?

I'm not sure why an equipment change would have made a difference. On all of the configurations that fly that route, business class starts at row 9. I suspect that they gave away your seat to a passenger with a young child because of the bassinets that are also located in row 9.

The only option that I see is to keep checking back with them and hope that 2 bulkhead seats open up or keep the original bulkhead seat and try to get the person next to you to switch with your husband. Good luck with that.

Let me guess, these are award seats you got thru AA?

Yes, award seats through AA. They only moved my husband out of row 9, not me. They said it was because we are traveling on 2 different PNR's and even though we are together JL did not have them linked. I've already given up my bulkhead seat and took 31 H+J so we could sit together on a long transpac flight. The seat map shows lots of people traveling solo and lots of empty window seats next to aisle seats.

You should at least have them link your PNRs so they are aware you are traveling with your husband. Otherwise who knows where they are going to move you next :D

Actually was your husband originally assigned to 9K? 9K is actually blocked and unassigned right now.

Also, the two seats next to emergency exits (36HK) are blocked and unassigned too. You may want to give them a call and explain the situation. They might be able to give you those seats. Good luck.

Our original seats were 9 A-C. I called JL and got them to put us in 36HK and to link the PNR's in case of another aircraft switch. Thanks for the tip. It's always best for me not to have a seat in front of me as I'm constantly getting up to use the lav and won't have to disturb the hubby when I do now.

Glad that everything works out for you. Have a pleasant flight :)

Let's hope they don't change the equipment again :p
