Seriously, I have gone thru 3 VP722 and now am on my second VP 622. I have downtime for like 7 days whenever a DISH box goes out.
Am getting sick and tired of this. I pay thgem over 275 a month for Platinum HD, South Asia mega pack, 3 boxes out and they still lack on the service issue.
Should I cancel?
My wife wants the S.Asia mega pack, but honestlly I am reconsidering cable.

I love my VIP 722. I've had it for acouple of months and replaced an SD TIVO with it. no issues.. Take a look at www.dbstalk.com and see if others are having similar issues.

You might consider switching over to DirecTV. A friend of mine recently did and he’s really happy with them.

Is it worse than the Comcast Motorola HD-DVR. That is the most craptacular piece of hardware/software combo I think I have ever had the privilege of having to use.

craptacular
I thought the word was craptastic?
I switched from Cablevision to Verizon FiOS recently and received Verizon's Motorola boxes. Having experienced Comcast's Moto boxes I groaned inwardly. (actually, I think it was audible) Remarkably, it was miles better.
Who actually writes the software for these boxes?

....
Take a look at how and where this box is located.
Is it getting enough ventilation?
Is it in a dusty place?
Is it open on top?
Is it sitting on another heat generator like the TV itself?
They generate quite a bit of heat. Dust gathered in the box will reduce cooling and the unit will run hot.
My 622 is almost two years old now and knock on wood still running well. It still gets used everyday.

We had Dish Network at home for about five years. Three TV sets, all in well-ventilated locations. I swear, we had boxes fail -- DVRs or basic ones -- at the rate of at least one per year. Each one involved mutiple trips to the UPS store and lengthy troubleshooting / installation rituals. Dish customer service was always good and responsive, but I finally canned it because I just couldn't stand the cr*p hardware. It's junk.

FWIW; we have always been very liberal with what we allow in this forum. If you think a thread is misplaced, please use the report post button instead of posting a public complaint.
Thanks.
