Putting aside the VZW and AT&T issue, which would you prefer for business purposes, the iPhone 3G or the BlackBerry Storm?

PHL Nov 8, 08, 3:28 pm Depends on what your corporate groupware app is (Lotus, Exchange, etc). Will your business allow access to it from an iPhone and/or Blackberry? That would probably be the deciding factor for me since the other features are fairly common (Web, apps, etc.) ScottC Nov 8, 08, 9:23 pm The lack of a keyboard on both phones is my biggest issue. I'd skip both and go with a Bold or Javelin. From a pure business point of view, the Storm will be the better device, but I think RIM is trying to target it at those that want a Blackberry, with the sex appeal of an iPhone. bdjohns1 Nov 8, 08, 9:35 pm The lack of a keyboard on both phones is my biggest issue. I'd skip both and go with a Bold or Javelin. YMMV. After I had my iPhone a few days, I was typing faster with it than I ever was with my previous phones that had physical keyboards (8125/HTC Wizard, Treo 750, Blackjack 1). CPRich Nov 9, 08, 7:10 am YMMV is correct. I had a touchscreen and even the BB "smart" keyboard (each key was 2-3 letters and it predicted your words) and sent both back for a qwerty keyboard. Scott, what's your call on a Bold vs. a Touch Pro? Both should be available and supported through my corporate channel by the end of the month. Both are free, so no cost issue. btw - did I miss a revision to the metric system? Verizon says the Storm is 112 x 61.2 x 13.85mm, and 4.1" x 2.2" x 0.5". Did the inch recently become 27.5mm? Landing Gear Nov 9, 08, 10:38 pm The VZW website says that the Storn can be tethered to a laptop as a modem. Questions: 1. What up/down speeds would you get on the laptop? Broadband? 2. Will the BlackBerry still be receiving messages? 3. Will the phone still work? |
